I would say that any movie that has a score by Jerry Goldsmith would have the greatest action cues. i.e. Total Recall, First Knight, Capricorn One, Rambo 1-3, Under Fire etc.

I guess I mean the music score in the background, not songs. Music from an intense scene. Kiss of The Dragon has some good ones.

Even though it's not Blu-ray, it's hard to beat the Raider's March in the Indy movies. For a Blu-ray, I'd have to say I get the biggest thrill from the scene in Superman Returns where he's using his heat vision to separate the space shuttle from the plane and the John Williams theme kicks in. It's glorious in PCM.

A very close second is the music that plays in the background in the awesome scene where Beatrix Kiddo and O Ren Ishii battle in the masterpiece Kill Bill 1. The only reason I didn't put this first is because the CA scene is more actiony and just a little bit more awesome. |

not on blu yet, but the action music by James Horner in ALIENS was the best imo.
If you don't have the soundtrack to Aliens, I highly recommend it. If you listen carefully, the soundtrack sounds somewhat like Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Last edited by sardaukar1977; 05-14-2008 at 06:42 AM. |

"To Victory" by Tyler Bates is a great piece from 300, but it's played at the start of the end-credits. Another great end-credits song (and the movie's only original song) is "Roar!" by Michael Giacchino for Cloverfield. Gladiator is an all-time favorite action movie score by Zimmer. For something different, try the tango-ish score for Mr. and Mrs. Smith by John Powell.
Only two of these are on Blu, which are 300 and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Both sound damn great: the 300 track has to get you pumped, and Powell's score is clearly heard through the action. Last edited by mikenike; 05-14-2008 at 07:41 AM. |
