I took everyone's advice in my last thread and went out and bought the Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH and thanks for the great advice because it truly is a great receiver. Unfortunately, once all the cables and wires were connected to the back of the receiver, it did not fit into the built-in cabinet that I have, so I am back to square one. I am very disappointed that I have to return it and start looking for another receiver and I got a really good price on it too, $799.
Can you please recommend a different receiver that is similar to the VSX-92TXH that I should try? I will take measurements this time before buying and bringing it home. Thanks for your help..... |

The cabinet is 18 inches deep so the recevier will have to measure approximately 16 1/2 inches in depth or less.

I had the exact same problem with the Onkyo 805. I ended up exchanging it for the 705, which is a little less than 15" deep.
The 805 was the bomb, but it was huge. When you get into features like high output, isolated transformers and all the other goodies that make the higher-end models high end, I guess you need more room in the case. |

Blue Fish/Red Fish,
I did consider the Yamaha 863, but I found this information posted by someone in a different thread...my speakers are Klipsch, so I am not sure? From a different thread: "One thing that's generally accepted about Yamaha is that they have more of a bright sound to them . . . which is why people generally don't recommend you pair them with Klipsch speakers, due to their horn design. I can vouch for this, as my Klipsch speakers were a little in your face at times, but my Pioneer has smoothed them out quite a bit." |

Would it be too simple to suggest cutting the back out to allow the cables to feed through the back....??
I work for a retailer who sells both Yamaha and Klipsch... Our speaker demo is set up to run off a Yamaha RXV1800 by defalt. (we can switch to others) and I think the Klipsch sound great running off a Yamaha. The Klipsch rep was here a short time ago and he used the Yamaha for all his demos to the store staff... Listen your self and decide we all like something different |

...on any given day there could be so many variables that affect the users oppinion. was this double blind tested using different equipment but with the same settings? was the same audio material used for each setup? were listening modes involved? what crossover freq. was used? was the user in a good mood or bad? does the user have any bias torwards specific manufacturers? ...and the list goes on... Granted the oppinion could be spot on...but like MPDIEHL said, different people have different tastes. ![]() Granted im a Pioneer Elite man myself, but the Yamaha RX-V863 is a stellar performer. |

Yes and no. Many brands have a "house sound", so yo shouldn't be so quick to dismiss opinions from people who identify that. For example, Klipsch sounds very bright to me. Yes there are variables, but a house sound often cuts through them.
