Default 46xbr8

im wantnig to upgrade my 46xbr3 to the brand new 46xbr8 due july-august of this year per leaked information.

what d you guys think? I spent $2500 last year in april on my current set...

do u think i can get it for under $4000. I read the features and info leaked on this set and it is mesmerizing..

the bravia xbr8 full 1080p hdv reperesents pinnacle of sonys know how.. accurate color rendition with somnys;s TRILUMINOUS 3 color LED backlight is coupled with color enhahcement rechonoogies and a 10 bit processing and 10 bit panel producing color thats natural looking.... deep black levels are repdocuded by way of ACE PRO nd the local dimming capacaibilties of the LED backlight....sonys best fully digital video processor bravia engine 2 pro helps produce breathtaking picture quality that words cannt describe...even 1080p content video looks better witht his feature.

i got this from te leaked info on the net. http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/...release-dates/

man imagine watching batman begins, or charlie and chocolate factory, apocalypto on bluray on this!!!

No way can you get it for 4000. The Z series will be 4000 for a 46" and a XBR8 should be well over 6000. IMO.

Red face I hope it looks good

Well, I hope that Sony has improved the Triluminous LED display technology. I saw the Technology in 4Q 2004 in Tokyo at the Sony building on a 32" display, and then Sony released their "Qualia" line of products which consisted of a couple tvs and other things like a digi cam and projector. The bottom line is they had the first LED flat panel display using thier Triluminous LED technology and it looked horrible. That not just my opinion, the thing was on display in a high end showroom, and none sold! Maybe the 15K price tag had part to do with it, but then again it went thru a liquidation and it only sold for $1800.00. Sony had other great Qualia line products, but that was a horrible failure. I truly hope for the XBR monikor, that this one looks a ton better.

I'm right there with you but I'm not very encouraged about pricing when I see borderline insiders on other forums suggest that the 55 inch XBR8, at best, will come out no cheaper than $5500.

I realize that there's a lot of new tech involved here, but these kinds of prices really just make me wonder how they really expect mass adoption of these new techs vs. people just buying cheapie Vizios and calling it a day.

I realize that you get what you pay for, but this is somewhat discouraging at least to me.

^^ It won't be that high. If the 55 is going to come out around $5500 or so like I'm seeing suggested by several people in the know on forums like AVS (yes, not gospel but at least one person has a good track record) then there's better hope for the 46 than this. I certainly hope so, because I've pretty much written the 55 off unless we're all really pleasantly shocked come Fall.

I'm also sorry they didn't have something between a 46 and 55. Why not have a round 50 as well?

Basically I've seen it strongly hinted that the 46xbr8 will come out around the same price point that the 46xbr5 did when it first came out. But all of this is all glorifed rumour and speculation for now.

I need to see more aggressive pricing in general in this marketplace otherwise I guess I'll just wait another year.

The 46" Z series is $2800. So it's very possible to see the 46" XBR8 under $4,000, possibly lower. However I plan on purchasing the XBR8. I can't wait, looks like it is the LCD I have been waiting for.
