Default When will we see Amadeus... WB??

When will the studios start releasing classics and Oscar worthy films like Amadeus with a great audio soundtrack?? I'm getting tired of The Fifth Element and am looking for something along the lines of 4 star movies

Probably when the majority of people that own Blu-Ray demand such releases. Right now, classic movies dont seem to sell as well.

Man I would love AMADEUS uncut and in brilliant quality on BLU-RAY!
To me its an absolute highlight in the entire history of movies.
Tom Hulce's performance was outstanding.

Go ahead Warn A Brotha, make my day!!!!

There have already been a few classics released (Kubrick Collection, Close Encounters) or at the very least announced (Casablanca).

Now that the format war is over and we're getting to that time of year with graduations and father's day, etc. sales should pick up and they'll double their efforts with getting new titles out.

I'm new to Blu-Ray (just got a PS3, getting an HDTV next week), but from what I can tell, they're announcing new titles every couple of days. I'm going to keep checking the recently announced titles page and treat every day there's a good one like my own tiny Christmas.

More pertinent to this topic, I can't wait for Amadeus to come out... as a musician and film fanatic, that movie is easily in my top 3 movies of all time.

I need to see this movie. Which version should I see, the original or the directors cut?

The original is better (and THAT is the version what won all the awards).

but it NEEDS to be put on Blu-Ray, along with Tombstone, Shawshank Redemption, Back to the Future trilogy and other great movies, isntead of some of the lame crap that has been coming out first.

I agree if you haven't seen it yet watch the original version first, after that you can watch the directors cut. With the special features that were released with the Special Edition this would be a great title to have on Blu, and would have to be lossless.

Well first.. Catalog movie sell mostly like crap. The cost of a remaster is high. Most of the case the money is made with the DVD version right now as they use it to finance.

The Sony Insider guy said that CE3K barely paid itself. So that the studio isn't really interested to invest that kind of money anymore at this stage...

Rumor has it...we'll be seeing and hearing Amadeus in 1080 in the late summer early fall.

Does this apply to movies from 1980 to the present or movies before 1980?
I still really want Lawrence of Arabia and the Dollars trilogy.

Amadeus is among my favorite movies, and I'd like to see a Blu-Ray version of it. I agree that there seems to be a shortage of 4-star movies on BD, but oh well.

That's not to say I don't like my fair share of "would never be nominated for Best Picture" movies (blockbusters, stupid movies, etc). In fact, the two movies I most want on Blu-Ray would probably be Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and Back To The Future (or is that four movies I most want?).

+1, I'm all in as well if this extra special feature is included. It would only be right.

Amadeus is one of the best movies EVER. I will buy it on the date of release, and watch it the same day. There were rumors last year indicating a possible 2008 release. Hopefully, it is coming very soon.

Even if it was free I wouldn't want it. Its just not something I could watch. Sure alot of people would like stuff like that but really, its not something that is going to sell in big numbers.
