Question !------safe viewing distance, from plasma?

i have a 55" plasma. what is the recommended distance, away from the t.v. for safe viewing. (i don't mean in case the t.v. falls on top of me. i mean, for my eyes)

That was from something else.

I would guestimate that a minimum of 5 feet should suffice.

I always think a good rule of thumb no matter what the size of the screen is 5feet.

You need to be careful though, because if the plasma ever leaks its gas you have to leave your house because it is poisonous.

Depends on whats on TV at the time. Just stay away from the dirtiest jobs show and all should be good.

No,

I was joking. I have been told that (poisonous gasses) when I talk about my plasma.

And some grown-up movies can have nasty smells. Just watch HGTV and it should smell lovely.

My 52-inch screen is a bit too big for my living room. I experimented and put the couch on the patio, but then the surround sound didn't work. I brought the couch back in, then put the 52-inch LCD on the patio. That didn't work either (sun glare). So I rearranged the furniture and now everything is fine.

The rule I have seen on CNET is 1.5'' x the screen size to 2.8" x screen size for a 16x9 TV

so, you want to be about 6.8' from the TV but no farther then 12.8'

hope this helps

For 1080p and 720p and 480p it all depends on your viewing distance.

For a 55" TV you would appreciate the full benefits of 1080p anywhere from 10ft and closer.

This is a pretty good approximation of screeen size, resolution and viewing distance and at which point each one matters.

However based on your own visual acuity, this may vary.

I believe that the OP was referring to saftey, not beneficial distance...

1440p. is that a theoretical resolution?
