Default Yamaha/Klipsch Quintet 950W 5.1-Channel XM-Ready Audio Advantage Package

I was looking at this setup and wondered if anyone had any opinions on it. I'm a definite newb here so any help would be appreciated. If I combine it with my PS3 will it be able to play the True HD etc. ?

I havent personally used the 463, and have been looking over the net to make sure it can process Multichannel PCM.

From other users they say it can...so from that I would say yes, it would make a good setup.

But don't quote me, as I'm just going by what others have said.

...something I would have to look into another time.

I agree, but I also avoid anything that says "950W system" or "1,000W surround sound" or anything like that..... it's misleading, and more importantly, "Meaningless"

Yamaha makes high current amps and Klipsch makes great speakers. I used to see klipsch for the Good Guys and then I worked for Circuit City and they did not and when people asked me for the best small sat sub package that could fill a decent size room I would send them to Best Buy for the Klipsch quintet. A horn tweeter fills the room with sound, and Klipsh subs hit hard and deep. Yamaha speaks for itself, I say that this is a good price.

They put those high wattage numbers there to get your attention. According to klpisch you can drive one of their speaker with 10watts of power and be happy. What you want to look for is if it is high or low current and as far as I know Yamaha is High current. What you want to look for is how many watts per channel and how much power the sub has. For the most part 65 watts and higher is usually a good start on a high current amp for a small - medium size room, I would not go much lower than that.
