Default Blu-Ray Player 7.1 Question

Hello all!

I just found this forum today. Very informative!

I have a question regarding 7.1 sound out of Blu-Ray players. I own a Denon AVR-2807 and am wondering what my options are for sound since the receiver does not decode TrueHD or DTS-HD. By searching and reading the forums, I have come up with two possibilities:

1) I need to get a BD player with 7.1 analog outs and hook up the analog outs to my receiver. The only choice right now would be the Panasonic model, correct?

2) Use the HDMI input on the Denon and set the player to send an uncompressed PCM signal to the receiver by letting the player do the audio codec decoding. This seems the preferred way, but I'm unsure if my Denon can do this. Can anyone confirm?

Also, do all of the players support TrueHD and DTS-HD? I know the Panasonic one will with a firmware update eventually.

Thanks!

Yes... Panasonic is the only 7.1 with analog outs. Check with Denon to see if your receiver can accept 7.1 PCM via HDMI(some do, some dont). If it does than the PS3 would be a good option also. If not then the Panny would be the only option with that receiver to get 7.1(by using the analogs).

Thanks for everyone's replies! I'll e-mail Denon and ask them. Their user documentation is not user friendly.

Thanks!
