Blu rays That Aren't Perfectly Round...

Apologies for the fairly vague thread title, but anyone else had BDs that aren't actually smooth around the edge, that look like they have various indentations all the way around?

The first disc I saw like this was Lionsgate's WAR, the disc looked like a saw blade in a certain light. It played ok, but I eventually sold it and bought the UK disc, which had no such problem. In fact, it's only ever been U.S. discs I seen with this issue. Is this a blatant production line issue?

I opened my copy of Face/Off that came a couple of days ago, and it has the same issue,(never mind the fact that it has the usual silly Paramount problem of the actual cover not being cut straight. Mine doesn't even fit the case properly. Asses.). I've never seen this problem with any other optical disc format, so just what the hell is it? My copy of The Terminator has a minor version of it, so even Sony has been affected at one point.

Just to clarify, I have NEVER seen this on a disc from outside of the U.S. be it France, Hong Kong, Japan or Australia. Seems a bit sloppy for such a high end product and I've now seen enough of this oddity to actually ask a question regarding it.
