Default Bill Hunt: New Encode/Master Perfect Storm

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents

Quote:
"The BD release we have produced for Perfect Storm includes the new 1080p master. This is a brand new encode of a brand new 1080p master."
Quote:
"Each of these releases will repurpose the encode used on the HD release. They looked beautiful on HD and will look beautiful on BD. Each of these titles will be released on BD50s. We are very excited that the Matrix titles will be coming out on BD... they are going to look awesome. And with Animatrix added (not part of the HD release) it should be terrific."

That sounds awesome. I'm glad Warner is finally stepping it up!

I have a LOT of titles to look forward to this year.

Ok... I may be reading it wrong, but it sounds like the only new encode will be "The Perfect Storm."

V, Batman, and The Matrix Trilogy will be the same encode as was used on HD DVD.

That's true. V, Batman, and Matrix will be using the HD DVD encodes, w/ the exception that The Animatrix will be in 1080p.

The Perfect Storm will have a new transfer, because it was horrible. But the others will keep the HD DVD encode.

Agreed, +1 on this. Title should be changed as it will only lead to confusion.

Can we please get the guy's name right? It's the least we could do.

And yes, the title is VERY misleading.

Pretty much screwed the pooch on all counts.

Did any of you guys catch any of those movies in HD-DVD? I happen to have seened Batman, V and Matrix and they were gorgeous there shouldn't be anything to worry about although I hope we get better sound option than what HD got, I hated the DD+ they got.

It's Bill Hunt...if you can't at least get that right, then, you have no business starting new threads.

And all his quote has stating is that we are getting shafted yet again on our Blu-ray release from Warner. Just another lousy HD-DVD port....

why start a new thread, when you don't even know what he was saying?!

Since "The Animatrix" wasn't on HD DVD, it should be BD-optomized... but yeah, the others are HD DVD ports.

"The Perfect Storm" may be a pick up though if reviews are good... because I'd love to see if I throw up after watching it in HD and Dolby TrueHD.

very misleading thread title and very disappointed to hear we are getting the same transfers on all of those titles. They had soooo much time to give us something better.

Not sure what I'm going to do now that I know for sure they aren't re-encoded. Already own begins and matrix on DVD and can probably live with them a little while longer while I wait for new encodes. I never bought V though, so I will probably pick that up.

The Matrix is what will most likely drop from my purchases for the year since by the time it does come out it will get easily lost in with the summer releases and Uni/Paramount's first round of Blus.

Anyone have any links to screens of these on HD-DVD?

I had "Batman Begins" and "V For Vendetta" on HD DVD... and I wouldn't say either of them were "gorgeous". VFV had, IMO, a decent transfer... not great... but good. "Batman Begins" was good, but a little "soft" in my opinion.

However, all of the above titles you mentioned got a Dolby TrueHD in addition to a Dolby Digital Plus soundtrack.
