Default How to I get into offline games!?

I REALLY wish I was able to play all these good games like R:FOM, Uncharted, Folklore, Ratchet and Clank, MGS, but I just can't! I get unbelievably bored knowing that im not playing against real individuals so I just say " what's the point?" and turn it off, then proceed to turn CoD4 back on.

The one game I can play seems to be GTA4 since it allows me to just do what I want... but I really wanna be able to get into single players with FF13 and Bioshock coming to PS3.

Anyone else feel like this? What do you do!

I do agree with you! I always play the SP first and then spend most of the time in MP mode.

I guess it all depends on what the SP experience is going to give you. Uncharted and Folklore even R&C are pretty darn good SP games, but with games like COD4:MW multi player is where you get your moneys worth.

I await MGS4 with excitement as this is going to be a stunning SP experience.

You must not like to read books, watch serialized TV shows, or go to movies for that matter then. Playing Single Player or Campaign modes of games is no different than doing any of those three activities. It is a desire to see how the story unfolds/progresses and to feel the shock of an unforseen plot twist (Aerith in FFVII anyone?). It is a means of connecting to the world and characters of a game, identifying with them, to feel their plight, and to connect to them emotionally.

If you have no desire to play the single player and see it only as a thankless chore or exercise, then somewhere along the way you've disassociated the creative portion of your brain. If all you play is the multiplayer portion of a game then, in my opinion, you're only getting half the value of the game that you payed for, which is a shame. Games like Heavenly Sword and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune featured amazing storylines, and wonderfully (voice) acted roles that rival any feature film or TV show that I've seen recently. Even COD4:MW's single player mode was engaging with a well thought out story, good voice acting, and excellent cinematics. You need to rethink your view of single player games.

It's odd because I read tons of books, love Weeds and Entourage, and go to the movies/buy a couple Blu almost every week. I then go out and buy games (Ex. Assassins Creed, Uncharted) and I go " Alright, I want to watch the story and hopefully enjoy this!" Then it goes on the shelf. I think I just need to grit through the first parts and hopefully I will fall into place and enjoy them. I really want to enjoy Bioshock and FF13 when they come.
