Default how long does that free amazon prime last?

I remember test-trialing it a couple months ago just for the heck of it because most of my amazon items arrive within 3 days anyway with the standard free shipping.
Do i have to unsubscribe to the prime or else they would keep charging you?

I'm pretty sure after the 1 month free trial you automatically get charged the $79 if you don't cancel before the trial is up.

You probably got the 3 month trial...It's what I got a couple of months ago and mine is expiring in about 2 weeks. And yes you do have to unsubscribe if you don't want to be billed the 79 dollars.

Its a one time charge so if you didn't cancel before the month was up you now have prime for the rest of the year.

I only got the 1 month. If I got the 3 month trial I would have bought more. Their loss.

The best way to get the 3 month free trial is to make several orders at Amazon while refusing to take the 1 month trial each time. Eventually if you order enough Amazon will offer you the 3 month free trial.

Default Down Side

The major downside for Prime is that it only applies to items you by from an Amazon retailer. Most of the items I can get much cheaper than what the Amazon sellers are selling it for. Therefore, the Prime is worthless for most of my purchases. Definitely not worth $80 a year.

Only applies to items sold by Amazon.com...I don't know what you are looking at on Amazon, but the majority of Blu-ray movies are cheaper in the end buying through them versus third party (new). If the third party is cheaper then the reason is they have to offset the shipping cost somehow or they won't sell anything.

Amazon Prime is well worth the price, if you want your purchase in a timely fashion and use them to purchase many things over the course of the year. I did all my Christmas shopping last year, toys and all, with Amazon.com and had well over 30 shipments all free two day shipping. That in itself paid for it.

But since October of last year I have placed over 100 orders with them and of those orders have probably had 150 shipments. So for someone like me it is well worth the price of $79.00. It's nice to be able to order something as simple as one battery for your garage door opener or key fob and get free two day shipping on an item that costs $1.49.

Yep, I got the three-month trial offer, and that was enough to convince me! I should be getting my new GPS navigation system tomorrow!

Well recently I've bought a water filter, a leaf blower, a hair cutting kit, vitamins, certificate frames, dog treats, and ALL of those had no associated Amazon.com seller that sold them. So I had no choice but to pay for shipping.

I also bought Spiderman 3 and American Pyscho on blu rays for $22.75 SHIPPED whereas the Amazon.com sellers would have charged $43.50 with free shipping. That does NOT sound like a good deal to me.

BUT, if you're buying lots of new blus (which I don't, I wait for a good deal after a few months) or lots of other items for the full price charged by Amazon.com, then Prime is a good deal for ya.

I am a bit confused on your wording here. What your saying is, you buy from Amazon MARKET PLACE and not Amazon itself. At least that is how I am reading it. You are buying from 3rd party sellers. Were as if you bought from Amazon - you would be paying $43.50 no/shipping. From the Market Place (new/used?) you paid, $22.75 shipped. Is that used or new pricing?

As for Prime - it's cheap when you do it in a group. I have been in one since June of last year and mine is going to expire soon. Hopefully I will be doing it again and like last time - will only pay $15 bux for prime.

You don't have to pay the 80. Find a group and join it FYI - Amazon 98% of the time, has the cheapest price. Tack on free 2 day shipping and you golden. I price shop a lot.

I just signed up for a free month trial, then right after I clicked turn off auto upgrade. Now I have peace of mind knowing that if I forget they still won't charge me the $80

I buy a lot from the 3rd party members of Amazon, yes. As for mine that I bought, I bought them used - like new. But there are some sellers that sell NEW copies of Spiderman3 and American Psycho for $9.50 plus $3 shipping. That's only $25 shipped for those movies both new. That's still a much better deal than the $43 you'd pay from Amazon.

But I hadn't thought about getting the Prime with other people. It says they all have to be in the same household. How would they allow that when everyone's names are different, addresses are different, and billing addresses are different?

I would totally go for it if I could get in for only $15 a year.

I did the same thing. Mostly because I didn't know that the free shipping was only good for Amazon's direct sellers rather than ALL the sellers on Amazon.
