Default Onkyo SKS-HT540 Speaker System

I was looking at these speakers, do any members own them, and can you tell me if they're any good? I'm a teenager, and can only spend a limited amount of money on speakers. If it was not for the budget, i'd buy Klipsch speakers, but they are way too expensive for me. Thanks.

I own the SKS-HT540 speaker system I have it hooked up to my onkyo 605 and it sounds great. I think do to the speaker size (They are big) gives you a better sound than satellite speakers more depth. The 230W subwoofer has a pretty good punch to it. So if your looking for a system in the low $200 range that gives great sound I definitely recommend these.

This looks like a pretty good system, especially for someone with a budget. Onkyo isn't well known for making really great speakers, but I don't think they're bad. I'm curious, for someone on a budget, do you really need a 7.1 speaker setup? If the room you're using it in isn't too outragiously large, 5.1 is probably gonna be plenty. I had Onkyo HTIB with the HTR 340 reciever and it sounded pretty darn good in my apartment.

I am very happy with mine for the price of a little over $200 including the sub. (refurbs) There are certainly better speakers, but these sound pretty nice for the money.

I plan to upgrade the left, right, center before too long, but I may use the rest of them, including the sub, for a while.
