Seeing as prices on everything is rising, how are prices of alcohol affecting your Blu-ray purchases?
Every fifth of Patron I buy is anywhere from one to three Blu-rays I could have instead! Maybe I should downgrade to Natural Light or Milwaukee's Best beer and save money. |

You need to take a cruise if nothing other than for the liquor prices on board. Even with duty on the overages, it still works out to around $10 a litre (not 750) for higher end liquors (compared to $20+ in the US for a 750ml)
Stock up and invest in good times down the road! BTW, I'm in Argentina right now and a 1L bottle of Stella Artois can be had for $3 USD in a restaurant. Plus beef is everywhere and CHEAP!! |

The women in Argentina have a very European look about them. You often wonder who is a tourist and who is a local.
Fuel is about...get this... Diesel is $1.99 pesos per L...3.78L in 1 US Gal = $7.52 pesos per gallon @ conversion of 3.16 peso per USD = $2.38/gal for Diesel (which if you aren't running, you'd be foolish here because of the cost and lack of enforcement on pollution from vehicles) But you'd cab it everywhere because the drivers are nuts...no traffic laws are enforced. The highest cab ride I have had was about $5 USD (aside from the "Remis" (limo) ride from the airport @ $37 USD). The subway is about $.30 per trip, and everyone walks here (you need to with all the beef and beef flowing). Here is a little thread on a BBQ board I frequent about my food adventures http://www.barbecuebible.com/board/v...ic.php?t=15219 |

Brew all my own beer, and I stocked up on malt and hops last fall. I probably still have 300 pounds or more of malt, and enough hops in the freezer to last until next year. I still need to buy propane, though.
However, I do enjoy a nice American Whisky. Wife brought home some Stranahan's Rocky Mountain Whisky and some Parker's Heritage Bourbon today from the Cities. Stranahan's is very cool. Fruity and slightly sweet followed by pepper. Flying Dog produces their wash, so I wonder if they use an ale yeast for the fermentation, to get the fruitiness. Interesting thing about whiskies is that Bourbon produces use new American Oak barrels. Scotch, Irish and Canadian distillers use second hand American Bourbon barrels. ![]() |

Neither do friends of the bartender!
Seriously, the price of captain hasn't gone up here, if the price of alchohol went up, I think you'd see a major revolution! Americans can live without food, we can live without gas, but dear god, don't think of taking our alchohol away! |

My wife and I went there for 2 weeks on our Honeymoon.... you're right about that.... we had fun walking down the streets of Beunos Aires, and seeing if the people walking by were speaking English/Spanish, or "other" it was "interesting" We hit up uraguay etc.. too. As far as liquor prices, I rarely buy hard-alcohol (worked in a Liquor/wine store for over 5 years during college though!!) but when I do, it's usually "good" and since it's so seldom, I'm pretty insensitive to the price. That Perrier Jouet Fleur 1995, and Rufino Classico Reserve, now that's a whole other story!!!! EDIT.... Liquor of choice is OBAN scotch, or Blanton's Bourbon ![]() |

Bah. If I cant enjoy the quality of my alcohol, I'll be damned. Besides, I'm a minority. All minorities have their drinks of choice - that is all they drink, and nothing else. For me, it is tequila. If there is no tequila, then I will take beer as a substitute. No vodka or whiskey or anything else. Rum is a last-chance option.
