A crossover cable might work (haven't tried that though).

You can use your home network using Nero on the PC and Media Server on the PS3.

Basically, your PC becomes a media server and you can grab whatever you want off it!

Set that up, set it to Share the files you want, and enable Media Servers on your PS3. This will let you copy the files from your PC to your PS3 (though not in the reverse direction - for that you'll need a USB drive or SD Card reader)

Will the router still work if you hard connect the PC and the PS3, without connecting to the internet? You should still be able to create a local network.

Seems like the switch on the router should still work (allowing a local network) but if the computers/PS3 are receiving the IP addresses through DHCP and that part isn't working now, the IP addresses might have to be manually entered.

Just try pinging the PS3 from the PC to see if that works. If so, everything else will probably work. If not, try manually entering the IP address on the PC and PS3.

I have been trying to find an answer to this question for like 3 months. I could have swore you couldn't stream without and internet connection. Another question I have is that you guys are talking about no internet connection but are still using your router to do this. I don't have high speed where i live yet and i was wondering if its possible to connect the pc to the ps3 just by using a internet cable since i don't have a router?
