Default Looking for a new PS3 game

Im not a big gamer. I bought the PS3 solely for BDs. I've had it since August and I have only purchased 3 games since then. I have Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Guitar Hero III, and Project 8.

I am looking for a new game as I am well tired of these three. First off, I am not a fan of Hack and Slash style gaming either. I really liked Uncharted because it had some kind of story and theme to it. I have played Assasin's Creed and its pretty monotonous.

I was looking for suggestions on what might be a good game to purchase next. I figured everyone here might be able to throw down some sort of input on what games are good and what their styles are. Any input would be rad.

Thank you

If you like games with good stories then get Grand Theft Auto IV, or wait for Metal Gear Solid 4 on June 12. Now thats a game with a story (too much story sometimes, in my opinion)!

ratchet and clank, its pretty addicting... platform shooter, has replay value even after you beat the game

Lego StarWars the complete saga, its quite fun and a good family game if your looking for that

i just bought godfather the don's edition looks like its just a port of the ps2 game but if you like this style of game (grand theft auto) you may as well get the latest gta4

Connect to the Playstation store and download the game videos and/or the game demos and try them before you buy them. Most games have demos, some don't then just go rent them. Nothing like dropping $60 and the game sucks! You gamers know what I'm talking about....

If you liked Drakes Fortune give Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare a shot. I personally like driving games but this game is truly amazing and fun (high replay value!) I also second the motion of MGS4, there is a few video's on the PS store to download.

As I said in another thread, either Condemned 2 or Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction.

You probably won't be interested in Condemned, I just love it for it's bloody violence. Tools of Destruction, like all other R&C games, is extremely fun and definitely worth buying.

I think any recommendation will depend greatly on what your preferences are as a gamer. If replayability and continued freshness is an issue, these are my recommendations:

Rock Band
You already have Guitar Hero III so you may have had a taste of what it's like to play with other people online in a music game, but GH3's online component is a pale shadow of what Rock Band offers. New downloadable songs are available every single week without fail (though you have to pay for them), which keeps this game interesting and varied in a way that I've not seen from any other game in the genre.

Requirements: A little bit of rhythm and/or singing capability, more expensive than your average game ($170 for the Special Edition set with all 3 instruments + ~$1.99 per downloadable extra song).

Grand Theft Auto IV
Featuring both a hugely immersive single player element and an excellent online component, it's hard to fault GTA4 when it offers so very much to do. It's entertaining just walking down the street and marvelling at the inventiveness and almost-lifelike reactions of the "denizens" of Liberty city.

Requirements: Immunity to heavily mature content (visits to strip clubs, lots of profanity, some occasionally graphic violence).

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Can't go without mentioning the biggest of the upcoming exclusive PS3 titles. If you like the Metal Gear franchise, this is one title you shouldn't miss. It offers what looks very much like an extensive storyline in the same vein of Uncharted (told primarily in third person), though newcomers to the series may be a bit disconcerted at the quirky storytelling style.

Requirements: A certain level of patience to handle stealth-based military tactics; you can of course go in guns blazing Rambo-style, but it's rarely the optimal way to pass missions.

Heavenly Sword (3rd person view) has an interesting storyline, the voice acting is fairly good and overall, the game has a very cinematic feel to it. Some elements are somewhat hack and slash but gameplay does vary some due to the two main characters having different weapons/styles.

If you haven't already played them on the PC, The Orange Box (includes Half-Life 2) and Oblivion are good.

I do like half life but ive had it for PC for years now. is there anything new with this set?

MGS4 seems to be getting high points here. Is it one of those games where I need to play the other ones to understand it? (like devil may cry... I didnt understand that one at all)I also like third person games too. (uncharted, tomb raider etc)

MGS4 is third person, but you could swap to first person as well, and yes it is getting high points around here. Actually, it's the most HYPE game in all PS3 community right now. (That's big talk) Why? Because it's the BIGGEST PS3 exclusive title so far. Also it's the first game in the history of games to use up 50GB. (I believe)

Look at me hyping away.

If most of the reviewers are right, you do not need to play previous MGS games to enjoy MGS4. Well, I believe I heard Kojima mention that somewhere as well. The game is made for both newcomers and long time fans.

So if you're asking for my recommendation, I say give it a go.
Although I can't guarantee you'll like it, BUT, you never know.

Straight adventure games? Hmm... I'm not sure if I know of any. Sorry.

Hope someone else can help you with that.

Got that right! I've had more fun with Pixeljunk Monsters and Super Stardust HD and spent less on those then the $60+ for some Blu-Ray game clunkers
