Default PC Playback - pause...

For my computer users that play back BDs, when you pause for say, a couple minutes, and un-pause, does the playback start instantly but hiccup after a few seconds then play on normally?

My AR190G "stalls" after a few seconds, you hear the drive searching(for lack of a better term) for about 2 seconds, then plays on without issue.

This(AR730E/B) machine starts and plays for a few seconds and hiccups for like 1/2 second(you hear the drive "searching") and continues on normally.

Anyone else ever see this?

Thanks!

I would say that after I hit the pause button and leave it - it takes about 1 to 2 seconds to restart - theres no problem with this and it is to be considered normal.

Hmm...I haven't noticed this. But I'll pop a disk into my AR730E right now and test it

Ok, Thanks!
Here, it's like it has a few MB stored somewhere and plays instantly, then has to re-group and start reading from the dics again.
The AR190G has to read more/longer (2 seconds) before it continues.
The AR730 just hiccups and keeps on going.

Thanks prerich!
David

I have The Wild paused as I type this... LOL!

Okay....if I pause it for a few seconds, and then hit play it resumes instantly. I have it paused right now and I'll check on it in a couple of minutes.

While we are on this topic...have you noticed how Windows changes the color scheme to a Blu-ray kinda scheme whenever you play a BD? It looks a lot like this website, actually.

Also...it really seems like playback is in 720p. The picture looks a hell of a lot better at home on my 42" Panny than it does on my AR.

Aero Glass gets turned off when we play a BD on these things(Vista).
Pretty sure you/we can force it to stay on... not an issue for me though.

These 730s are 1440x900 so it is kinda squished.
Tether the machine to the Panny with HDMI... it'll rock!

My AR190G is 1920x1200 - 1080p with room to spare. It kicks!

That's my biggest gripe about this computer....1440x900 is the native resolution. That really irritates me.

I tested playing The Dirty Dozen. Whenever it resumes from being paused...it resumes instantly with no hiccups.

Anyone know how to enable the Aero glass thing?

What do you have your resolution set to on your AR? I just installed my 42in 1080p Phillips (and got new glasses to boot yall) - I've never seen Vista look better (the glasses help alot too!!!!). I run my computer at 1920 x 1080 now, I just turn off the scaling from the Phillips and make sure my resolution is set to 1920x1080. Looks great to me

Mine is always 1440x900 - the native resolution. I play all my games at this resolution too. It seems like WinDVD changes the resolution - but I can't figure out what it is changing it to.

I haven't hooked this computer up to my Panny 42in plasma - since I really don't have a need to. I have a Panny -30 BD player hooked up which takes care of all my needs

That's the problem - WinDVD is scaling it to the next useable resolution (1280x720) if you laptop monitor can handle 1920x1080 - go to your display settings and go for it (your Icons will be very tiny though - I'm looking at mine through my 42 inch, sitting 10 1/2 feet away and its just right)!

Mine won't do full 1080 on the laptop's screen I do think I'll test it with my Panny plasma at home just to marvel at it!

They(AR730) actually run at 1440x900(more or less, depending on aspect ratio of the movie)

Close... as opposed to(AR190G):

Hmmmm. Okay!

Now can I output a movie at 1080p via HDMI to my Panny screen, and still use the built in screen on the laptop?

HDCP(protection) may get upset if you try and use both screens at the same time.
Just switch the laptop to "TV Only" with Fn+F7 and play away on the Panny.

Well that pretty much stinks. I already have a stand-alone BD player
