I, like some of you that have posted in a related thread, have been having problems getting my 10% discount.
Specifically, I pre-ordered 4 titles only one of which automatically deducted the discount. When I called Amazon they checked to verify that they were all Blu-ray titles, but declined to give me the discount since the individual titles wre not flagged for the discount. I suggested that they give me a credit for the difference or I would just cancel my order. The Amazon rep said they could not do that, so I cancelled the order and may reorder later. Anyone else having better luck in solving this problem? ![]() |

I have been getting the run-around with regards to flagging the titles (and all Blu-ray titles are eligible). I ordered 'Big Fish' and the discount didn't apply. I ordered anyways (because I wanted an order number they could look at) and contacted them asking why the discount hadn't been applied to my order. They apologized, and told me that once the order has shipped, I should write back and they would credit my card. I just canceled the order and re-ordered and the discount was applied.
Monday, I contacted them with regards in flagging Silence of the Lambs for the discount. The first response was that it was not an eligible title. I wrote them back saying it was, and they apologized and said I should order the title and then write in for a refund (just as the had before). I wrote back again asking why a customer must go through the trouble of asking for a refund when they should just be able to flag the title and be done with it. I got a message back to, "wait two days, and if it is still not active, wait two more days." because they said it would take a while to flag. If it doesn't get flagged by tomorrow, I'm calling and talking to a supervisor an voicing my concern. It is some real crap and I'm not ecstatic with Amazon right now (though, they got a pass since Goodfellas was at my door yesterday). |

Amazon should get a clue. Bring somebody in to design a dedicated site for BD and HD-DVD, reassign their code as BD and HD-DVD and not "Blu-ray DVD", and since this is their current promo, apply the discount on ALL BD and HD-DVD titles.
I'm surprised people still buy HD discs from Amazon. fuad |

The thing that annoys me is that when I try to buy any Blu-ray titles on Amazon, I don't know whether I'm buying the DVD or Blu-ray. Amazon shipped me Descent on DVD.

You think that's bad I looked yesterday & saw where they finally put up "Mr. & Mrs. Smith", "Dodgeball", "Dances With Wolves" & "Ice Age" up for preorder. They were showing the standard 30% off. It showed the Blu-Ray case but the format said DVD.
I figured I would wait until they showed the format as Blu-Ray before placing my order. I checked back later & they corrected the format to show as Blu-Ray but it had gone from 30% off to 10% off. They're all showing as $35.99 each now. I called today & talked to a supervisor to let them know what had happened & they said they couldn't do anything about it. They said I guess we had a price change on Blu-Ray pre-orders. I feel really bad for the people that paid for the Amazon Prime 2 day shipping for a year ($79) if Amazon went from their standard 30% off of Blu-Ray & HD-DVDs to only 10%. Especially now that they extended the extra 10% off thru the end of the year after you place your order for ordering 3 HD titles at one time. They really need to get their act together. I can get them in town cheaper now. Last edited by marine92104; 01-17-2007 at 07:52 PM. |

As annoying as Amazon has been and can be, I still find that their prices tend to be the best, or close to it, pretty much every time, especially post discount.
So far, I haven't had any real screwups or problems, but I'm sure my time is coming. BestPrices, DVDEmpire, and places like that are nice alternatives, but I find that their prices tend to be a bit more expensive on a good number of discs barring the occasional shock and awe of that Google Checkout MI Trilogy preorder deal for $55! ^^ We need more of that! |

So far, I haven't had any problems getting the 10% off any of my BD orders from them, but oddly enough they did drop my pre-order for The Grudge 2 today, saying they would not be able to obtain it. When I checked the site for it today, they still had it listed as available for pre-order with a release date of December 31, 2025!

An update to my problem--nothing has changed!
I tried to reorder my 4 titles to see if Amazon had finally discounted these items and there has been no change. As a result, I called Amazon customer service and they were also puzzled. But they did offer a solution. They would give me a $11.00 promotional coupon when I try to reorder these titles, in effect, giving me the discount. I will still wait another week and reorder to see if these titles have been flagged for the discount. |

I have been checking my titles daily, with no change. I even got an email saying that they would put the discount on my order, but nothing has shown. Oh well. When they ship, I will send them an email and get a refund. DVDEmpire really needs to get something like Prime and I would definitely buy the disc from them.

Amazon's promotional code system has a problem with pre-orders (all of my pre-order attempts has resulted in no discount). Once the movie has been released I have never had a problem with the promotional code, so I always wait until the movie is released.

FWIW, I did see the discount applied on the preorder and you probably see the "preorders guranteed of lowest prices if there's a price change" thingie as well. I guess I'll doublecheck this... Last edited by JTK; 01-23-2007 at 05:23 PM. |

*doublechecked*
Figure and percentages made sense when I see these two figures filled out: "Best Value Savings" "Promotional Certificate" So, as best I can tell, it took properly. Good for us all to be on top of that though in case it doesn't "take" when it's supposed to. |
