Default National Treasure 2

I was going to watch one of the first Special Features on this last night, i think it was the one called National treasure Fact or Fiction, something like that, but it would not play saying that it can only be played with Blu-ray players equipped with "Bonus View". I have a Sony BDP-s300, i wont be able to upgrade my player to Bonus View will I? I will have to buy a new player after June, if that is so that really sucks. I know alot of people dont care about special features but i do. I like to watch them. Any furthur info will be greatly appreciated. Thx

I suspect that there is a problem with the disc. Below is the message I received from Netflix:

The title: National Treasure: Book of Secrets has been removed from your Queue. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will no longer offer this title as part of our rental library. Please check our site periodically as the availability of this title could change.

We strive to maintain the largest selection DVDs and apologize for the inconvenience.

I will be watching the movie on Saturday, and will an eye for this. Not really into the special features, but this situation is unusual.

I found this on HDD:

http://forums.highdefdigest.com/showthread.php?t=54280

It's not particular to this movie, but looks like it may be a profile issue.

Edit: I just checked and it runs fine on my PS3. The Fact or Fiction feature is a PiP based one (like the quiz you can play on Enchanted) - I didn't think the S300 supported that, but I am known to be wrong. Frequently!

The Sony BDP-S300 is profile 1.0 (which means that you will not be able to view the "bonus view" feature). You need a player that's profile 1.1 or higher in order to be able to access that feature. If you are able to return the player (depending on how long you've had it) you might want to go with the Philips BDP7200. The price tag for the player is $334.00 at Sam's Club. I recommend this player because I own one, it's inexpensive, it's a great player, and it's profile 1.1. It's also able to bitstream all of the hi-def audio codecs to your receiver (provided that you have a receiver capable of decoding said audio codecs.

Another option is the PS3. Many of the members on this site say it's an excellent player, as well as a great gaming system. It also decodes all of the hi-def audio codecs internally, then sends the hi-def audio in PCM format to your receiver capable of receiving audio codecs in PCM. I do hope that I was able to help you...

Both National treasure movies were fairly enjoyable IMO. Think Disney versions of the Indiana Jones-type movies.

No, this movie is not worth a blind buy. It's a great renter, but doesn't have a whole lot of replay value. It's no where near as good as NT1. Your better off saving your $20 and getting something you know you will enjoy.

I ran into this too. Just figured I'd try and view it when I get my new player.
