For those interested, I just received this e-mail from Tim Farley (Walter's Grandson) regarding a possible Black Stallion Blu-ray:

"Been trying to get it done for awhile; there is a ton of "behind the scenes" footage for both Black Stallion and Black Stallion Returns.
You'd think MGM would see the value.

Coppola did it for the Godfather series and Outsiders / Rumble Fish
Maybe a new package soon, when the next movie comes out.

Write MGM!!!

The first film needs a major upgrade from its poor DVD release, so I'm hopeful this gets done.

Considering the DVD wasn't even anamorphic, this is in desperate need of a high-def remastering. Some of the most beautiful cinematography of all time.

There are HD masters of both movies that air on MGM-HD and HDNet Movies constantly. They could release them on Blu-Ray tomorrow if they wanted to -- both look great.

Of course it'd be nice to see all the footage from the first movie that was trimmed -- and I guess there was an hour of it -- but I'd take anything at this point.

Always loved this film. Its very well made and has a real theatrical flair in the camera work.

OH MY GOD YES!!!! Yes yes oh yes!!!

But I have to admit.... Saw this when I was a kid (in the movies) and loved it but as an adult , now when I watch it I only watch the first act and that race at the end. I always skip over the middle when they get back home.....boring

! But that first act and the ending WOW!!!

This news is surprising. I haven't seen this movie in 28 or 29 years but I recall really liking it at the time...I was around twelve.

Akijama, Do you know which label/Studio is releasing this?
