Default Do you?

Would you prefer the Blu-ray format to become as popular as DVD is/was, or do you want it to be this awesome expensive format that not everyone will ever have?

I really want Blu-ray to be successful and I want more films released on BD, but part of me likes it how it is now. As I said in another thread, it will no longer be this cool thing you can brag about to people who don't have it.

I know it's a pretty stupid question, but there must be some part of you that prefers having it while so many others don't?

So, the answer is probably pretty obvious, but where do you stand on this?

I'm satisfied with the current state of things, as long as I'm getting new releases and periodic release of high profile classics.

That said, I won't really care if DVD survives with the masses and Blu-ray as an enthusiast format. I haven't bought DVD in over 2 years and have no intention to ever buy another one again.

not really, I don't care. I like my stuff but I don't feel I need to gloat in it.

But I voted "Of course" not because of some ant elitism but in the end I want the best quality movies I can get and as long as a format is not mainstream there will always be titles that fall through the cracks.

I would love it to go mainstream so they release older catalogue titles they might not release if there's a smaller user base.

I want it to be popular but I don't want what happened to DVD to happen to Blu-ray in the sense that the format got dumbed down specifically the fullscreen fiasco. That's all we need is for these new widescreen tv owners to want to 'fill' their screens and have studios crop 2.35:1 material. You already see the black bar complaints on this forum from some users.

I also don't want to see separate 1 disc releases with an optional 2 disc special edition. The studios used to actually include that second disc at no additional cost (that consumers saw) when DVD was still catching on. Then they pulled the sucker maneuver and got us to pay $5-$10 for it. Add to that the string of double, triple, quadruple dips from studios.

Wasn't me. I have to make that clear as my signature makes me suspect.

Maybe they clicked it in error and misunderstood the poll. I almost did.

I want it to be popular. Imagine how pricey the movies will still be if it was not popular in every household.

Yes, I cannot wait to find Blu-ray discs in the Wal-mart dump bin for 99 cents.
