Default Speed Racer extremely poor at the box office

I dont know if anyone is surprised but

The Wachowski Brothers' Speed Racer lost a hefty 58.8% of its first weekend ticket sales. The Warner Bros. release collected $7.6 million in fourth and has made just $24.4 million compared to its budget of $120 million.

I might actually go see Speed Racer this week. A friend of mine said he really liked it. But maybe I will just see Narnia instead or just wait for both to hit Blu.

This movie will under perform and remain underrated until the day it comes out on Home Video and Blu-ray.

Not a big surprise for me. There was little to no buzz about it, at least that I saw.

As a movie fan, and a family man (2 kids neither teens yet - getting close) I liked it.

I have heard there is no story, but there is. I just went and saw it today - lots of families and small kids in attendance, at the end of the movie almost everyone clapped (not a norm here at my local theatre).

If you had low or no expectations, have kids - go and enjoy. I think you will be surprised. My daughter (9 yrs. old) has been playing with my son's Hot Wheel collection all day now - about 4 hours since we got home from the movie.

I liked it too. Don't really know why, because 99% of these summer blockbusters usually stink. I guess i liked it cause it's not based on a comic book superhero, nor does it have pasty English kids charging in slow motion. It's obviously gonna look awesome on blu ray.

Hate to tell you, Mach Go Go Go was a comic book before it was ever a cartoon, they just didn't publish it in the US till 40 years later

I really enjoyed the movie but the people in the audience were acting like a$$holes (people talking during the movie, kids making all kinds of noise, and cell phones going off).

This is going to be a spectacular Blu-ray.

It'll probably break even after domestic, foreign, and dvd sales in the next year.

I'm long-past the "I'll buy something on Blu-ray just because it looks good" stage. This movie was dreadfully awful. If you liked it, then that's good for you -- you didn't feel like you were robbed of $8 and 2 1/2 hours of your life as I was.

Most people hated it, and the massive losses at the box office are well-deserved, in my opinion.

Well, at least this bomb will stop the Wachowski Brothers' free reign on budgets of studios. That is a positive. They got lucky with the Matrix and people think they are demigods.

I'm assuming your talking to me, but i never said i'd buy it on blu just cause it looks good. I said i liked it and i'm sure it will look good on blu. Probably won't buy it when it comes out, but it was fun at the theatre and i'm glad my kids convinced me to go. Generally speaking I'm more of drama/artsy fartsy type movie goer, so i was pretty surprised i liked it. Sorry, but I just get a little tired of hearing how people were robbed and your precious life was wasted by a movie you watched of your own free will. If you had those two hours back you'd probably just waste them again like we all do.

No, not you in general, sorry.

I've seen a lot of posts on here and other sites, and several people have said how it'll look great on blu-ray, so they're buying it.

I see a lot of posts like that for lots of movies, actually.
