Default Onkyo 702 Reset Trick

Hi folks - this may work for other Onkyo receivers as well, but here is my deal.

Finally ran all the wires through the attic this past weekend, and everything was working great. I hooked up the automatic setup mic, went through the setup and then went to test my PS3 with an audio CD.

The 702 doesn't have HDMI, so this was an optical input.

Well, as soon as I played it the volume was INCREDIBLY LOUD and only out of the front left - I shut down immediately.

I use absolute volume and would guess it was up in the 90's even though the display said 45.

Long story short, I called Onkyo after lots of testing to make sure it was the receiver (it was doing it on analog inputs, through headphones, etc) they told me to hold down the Video1 button and then press power while still holding it down. I displayed a 'Clear' message and reset itself.

Everything worked after that. My lesson learned - off to buy an spl meter tomorrow and will never plug in that set up mic again. I thought for a minute I blew my speakers, but everything is OK.
