did you connect it to the "pre-out sub" on the receiver?

Have you tried just running the output on the sub to the input on the reciever? I have the 805 as well and Paradigm speakers, including the sub. Try doing this and use the auto calibration microphone that came with the reciever.

do you mean using the RCA jacks? Bear with me I'm a noobie, also I don't have the auto cal mic it was an open box. What are my options on hooking up this sub to my onkyo?

Yeah, make sure the cables are in the right place first. You should probably touch the tip of the end of the RCA jack to see if you get any feedback from your sub. Then make sure you plug it into the pre/pro subwoofer plug.

...looking at the picture, there are two "subwoofer" connections...one is an Input and one is an Output.

You should have it connected to the one on the right, that is above the Pre Out

Take EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF TIME tweaking individual speaker settings ("distances from listening point" and "output volume level" are really important). Since you don't have the ability to use the Audyssey easy setup process (no mic included in your box) it is detrimental that you do this methodically and with the utmost critical ear. Even after my 805 went through the Audyssey setup I still spent 3 hours fine tuning the calibration of my speakers.

Great. I'm glad you figured it out. I was going to say make sure you have it plugged into the purple plug where it says subwoofer to make things easier but it looks like you have it all figured out. If Onkyo can't help you out with the mic, maybe Ebay can. I had good luck when I ran Audessey on my 805. It was all on target and surprisingly accurate. It also fit most of my tastes, which is a first for me. I just might turn up the sub a bit when I get a chance. I hope you enjoy your 805/ Polk combo too!
