Default Iron Man's Repulsors Set on The Mandarin for Sequel

Quote:
When the original film made mention of the terrorist organization The 10 Rings, it was a clear reference to Marvel history and the alien artifacts The Mandarin discovered before beginning his career of oppression and supervillainy. It seemed like a pretty obvious clue from Favreau and his writers that Iron Man's arch-nemesis would appear in a sequel.

Now, with the director saying he needs "heavy duty, heavyweight bad guys" to confront Iron Man in the next film, Mandarin seems all but a lock. There's no mention of casting yet for the Far Eastern troublemaker, but that will have to break soon, as Robert Downey Jr. will be ready to begin filming in the golden titanium suit again when he finishes the Hugh Hefner biography he's working on now.
I've never read Iron Man comics before, do you guys know who The 10 Rings are?

Me neither. It says they were mentioned in the movie, but I don't recall. I'll have to wait for the Blu-ray now.

I don't know "who" the 10 rings are, but the Mandarin has 10 rings of power that have effect over various elements and such.

That's all I can figure out.

I think it's not who but what lol. I guess this is the guy who wears The 10 Rings: -

In recent years, seeking assistance to master the Makluan rings’ full power, the Mandarin became the patron of the Sin-Cong revolutionary Wong Chu, who abducted the Chinese genius Ho Yinsen and American industrialist Tony Stark. However, Yinsen sacrificed his life to enable Stark to escape and overwhelm Wong Chu’s forces using his first Iron Man armor. After disciplining Wong Chu for his failure, the Mandarin had the opportunity to stop Iron Man from departing but, intrigued, allowed him to pass unhindered, little realizing the armored hero would become his most persistent nemesis.

Basically the Wong Chu organization's, who abducted Stark and Hinsen, boss is Mandarin although he wasn't in Iron Man nor was he mentioned....I think. Discuss!

EDIT: I can't believe jadedeath and I wrote the same thing lol. Here I am researching all this and you just put it all in short sentence lol. Thanks for the info though!

And your Toronto gentleman's clubs!

I just might have to visit the Hulk's production areas. You know, for fanboy reasons.

Of course I've never been in there myself

If you were to want to visit said production areas, I'm not telling you that it's on Yonge St somewhere near Bloor...

Although I can't remember what name was used, it was verified (maybe through rumor) that the lead terrorist in the movie was The Mandarin. Leading a group called the Ten Rings was just to drive the point home, I think.
Supposedly, Mandarin will be in the sequel, along with Fin Fang Foom (?), the giant mystical dragon with purple biker shorts. Thor is supposed to debut somehow, also...but at this point it's all just rumor.

Yeah, I suspected it was that guy as well. We'll see if he plays the part.
