Default My first real system..

I need to know i did ok my first time out. Ive always had surround sound.. just not anything i could be proud of.. Im only in 5.1 right now.. 7.1 will come eventually.

I just need to know that I put something respectable together. Thanks in advance for all of your help/support/advice.

My new System

Mistubishi 73" DLP 1080p
Denon AVR-2308Cl 7.1
PS3 (for Bluray)
Definitive Mythos Seven Center (Channel)
Martin Logan Montage (front)
Athena WS-100 (Rear)
Klipsch RW-10d (sub)

There is also a Wii with monster component cables and a crappy regular dvd player that will be replaced with a good one in the near future.

How did i do?

thanks.

Oh, I'd say you did pretty darn well. The only thing I would worry about is how well the Mythos and the Martin Logans go together (voice matched, etc.) What size are the drivers in the ML Montages?

5 1/4" drivers on the montages..

I mic'd the speakers (input to the receiver to clear up any spacing/ voicing issues already) I set the receiver to output all freq's down to 40 hz to the surround speakers and all below 40hz to the sub for a nice blend in the sound.

My only real problem is when its cranked loud, my center channel moves! (i could probably use a mat for it.

like I said its my first REAL system.. ive had experience with surround sound for a while.

i would suggest going to fred meyer or somewhere and buy some small rubber pads to put at the 4 corners of the bottom of the center. that should eliminate most of the moving. BTW congrats on the system!! I'm sure it sounds awesome.

I'm not making fun of you, but those 6 words brought tears to my eyes from laughter. A highly overpriced cable for a system that produces a naturally weak video signal in the first place. That's like wearing a gold rolex and driving around in a used rusty 20 year old Pinto!

haha. the wii is for fun.. the monster cables i got for $7 at a target clearance table and are a ton better than the standard rca ones that come with it..

but thanks for the mental image of the rolex and the pinto.

my biggest concern when i originally posted this thread was that i could've done better with the components i chose. i was just trying to make sure i did ok with what i got.

You did fine with what you got.. and you got stuff that isn't overblown with features you don't need.. You got exactly what makes sense.. Great stuff
