I was at walmart and they had the tales from the dark side dvd set. All four seasons for 30$ I know this is a easy deal , but then I thought: what if I buy it on dvd and a few months later a blu ray set is released? So I didnt buy it despite being tempted to. Are there any plans to rekease tftds on blu ray anytime in the future?

Like most 80’s/90’s tv shows that were post produced on standard def video, the chances for it to come to Blu-ray are silm. The shows that have been remastered for HD are ones studios feel have the appeal to sell units or have interest from streaming services and cable stations. Unfortunately Tales from the Darkside doesn’t have the same level of interest as something like Star Trek or The X-Files.
The company that owns TFTD (CBS) has yet to decide on remastering the remaining Star Trek series, so I doubt they’ll spend the money to remaster anything else. It’s recently dropped in price to around $30 for the complete series, it’s a safe bet in my book. I’ve been waiting for a price drop myself, I’m picking it up this week. |

Also I think this show was edited to video and they would have to go back to original film elements to eve make it presentable for Blu/ HD. Same with Monsters and Friday the 13th The Series. DVD will be as good as it gets for these shows sadly.

I bought the complete series on DVD and it's disappointing. Not only is the packaging horrible and your disc will not stay in place, the picture is probably worse than VHS quality. I can see why they priced it so cheap. Oh well, it's decent enough for a budget release I suppose.
