I've watched Letters from Iwo Jima, Pan's Labyrinth and Bonnie and Clyde. I ended up selling off B&C but all three have excellent picture quality. I also own The Lives of Others but haven't opened it yet to watch. I thought Black Book was a good film and it also has excellent picture quality.

I rented Letters from Iwo Jima. It's a good movie, but it wasn't something I wanted to see multiple times so that's why I merely rented it. The image and audio quality is very good, but not top tier. Definitely much better than DVD.

Most dedicated film fans have seen The Searchers. The image quality on the Blu-ray is pretty outstanding considering the movie is over 50 years old. Having been filmed in 8-perf 35mm VistaVision definitely helped.

i believe there is going to be a remake of Christmas Story if im not mistaken so wait for that because the current version sucks and Million Dollar Baby is a good movie but the Blu-Ray needs an upgrade

Good Night and Good Luck looks very nice for a b&w picture, and Unforgiven is a beautiful transfer from an older movie.

The Wild Bunch looks fantasic on Blu Ray. The 2:35OAR realy comes to life in high def and it's one of the best westerns of all time

I also own Letters & Bonnie & Clyde. They both look great as well. Letters has more of a grainy feel to it but that's the way Eastwood filmed it

I just bought and watched The Wild Bunch and I concur that it is just fantastic. I still have the LD & DVD the same Director's Cut version. This
movie inspired Director John Woo's love for slo mo death scenes in his movies.

Correct me if I am wrong but it introduced 'blood squirting' action for future
movies.

Unforgiven is highly recomended. Probably Eastwood's best film, subject to argue. Great transfer to blu-ray and sounds awesome. Must buy title.

I see no reason not to own each and everyone of them. But if I had to choose just a handful from that list, I would grab "The Searchers," "Bonnie and Clyde," and "The Lives of Others."

My two recommendations would be Pan's Labyrinth and Letters from Iwo Jima.

Pan's Labyrinth, Letters from Iwo Jima and Unforgiven are must-have BDs. The picture and sound are good on each of them, but more importantly, the films themselves are magical. The others you mentioned pale in comparison. Run out and get these three TODAY.
