USA Two-Minute Warning (1976) - Shout! Factory - June 28, 2016

https://www.shoutfactory.com/film/fi...minute-warning

Quote:
In just two terrifying minutes the lives of 91,000 people were changed forever.

A nightmare of fear and panic unfolds in this chilling tale of a lone gunman who sets his sights on a sell-out crowd at a championship football game.

Charlton Heston is the police captain who leads the desperate fight to stop the madman – high atop the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum – before he sets off widespread devastation in the jam-packed stadium.

John Cassavetes and Martin Balsam are among those risking their lives to thwart the sniper's attempts, while innocent spectators Gena Rowlands, Jack Klugman, Beau Bridges, Walter Pidgeon, David Janssen and thousands of others try to hide from the fatal gun sites and avoid the deadly ensuing stampede.

Excited to own both this and Rollercoaster but we really need the much better disaster film - Black Sunday!

At first I thought this was Black Sunday

To be honest I don't remember much about either movie but I loved the novel Black Sunday.

Never seen this, but interested just because it's got Cassavetes and Gena Rowlands: even if they are probably just collecting paychecks.

Last Summer I went on a disaster movie binge and in the span of a few weeks watched this, Rollercoaster, the Airport sequels, Earthquake, Grey Lady Down, Black Sunday....

This was the first R-rated movie my dad took me to see when I was a kid. For that reason it's always been a sentimental favorite of mine. The DVD was one of the very first that Universal issued in the late 1990's when DVDs started taking off. It was non-anamorphic.

So glad to see the love for Black Sunday. Yes, a much better film than Two-Minute Warning but the latter is still good enough to own.

Surprised no one has mentioned that Black Sunday the novel was written by Thomas Harris who later wrote the Hannibal novels.

The test run scene from Black Sunday left a greater impression on me than anything else I saw last year.

Just... wow. Keller and Dern played that so effectively.

I read the book something like forty years ago and that sequence is still the first thing I think of whenever this comes to mind.

It was one of the first DVDs I ever owned back in 1998 or something. Universal released Rollercoaster at about the same time, as well as Swashbuckler.

I hope they're putting this as the reversible cover

I saw this at the movies and that picture of the sniper was what I always remembered about the flick.

Wow, that's cool that they're including the TV cut after all. If you scroll up, you'll see that was the first question I had about this. The theatrical cut is still superior, but it's an interesting curiosity that it even exists.

Wow nice include of the TV version! Very cool!

Curious if the TV version will be 4:3 or widescreen?

Almost certainly will be 4:3, as the new scenes were shot in 4:3 for TV back in the '70s. There's never been another master of it, and the film was re-edited so heavily for TV (not just with new scenes having been shot but the whole film having been reworked plot-wise), you couldn't just insert them into a widescreen print of the movie and have it work.
