Default 2.35:1 aspect ratio question.

I have (2) Blu ray movies that both say they are 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Why does one of the movies fill the whole screen and the other doesn't?

Which movies? Some movies mistakingly display a 2:35 aspect ratio on the box but are actually framed at or produced at 1:85 aspect which would fill the majority of a 16 X 9 (1:78) display. Someone tell me if I'm wrong here.

Because your 16x9 HDTV can't be made to stretch on command.

Or it could be that the director intended to show his/her movie in a wider aspect ratio than 16x9. Which one is more logical to you?

Night at the museum. 2.35:1. Entire screen.
Pirates: Dead Mans Chest. 2.35:1. Bars.

According to imdb, Night at the Museum is really 1.85:1

Sounds like someone didn't read the OP's ORIGINAL question BEFORE he CHANGED it.

As cajmoyer said, typos happen. If you've seen the movies in question in theaters, you'd know if they got the AR right. If not, IMDB is a good guide.

That's true. Although I thought if you quote someone's message, and the person later edits what you quoted, the quoted version you have would not change.

It doesn't. Feel free to test it on what I just quoted.

I thought if someone edits their quote lets say deletes
then how can someone continue a quote if it doesn't exist
