Ps3 Help Please!

I did a search on the topic and didn't have any luck. I thought I read about this problem not that long ago but don't remember if there was a solution.

I have an 80GB PS3 and it's not playing BD's or PS3 games. I did a reset and even updated the firmware. Checked the parental controls and fine. It does play CD's , DVD's , & PS2 games. I called SONY and They didn't offer much of a solution other than sending it in. They were very nice about it though. Lucky that I am still under warranty.

1) Has this happened to anyone else and how did you resolve it?

2) If sony replaced your unit did they send back one in excellent condition?
as mine is still in brand new condition and only 5 mo old

When I insert a game or BD it does nothing. No icon and it set to automatic play. Can anyone help while I wait for SONY to send me a shipping box?
