Default Nightwatch/Daywatch Domestic vs Japanese Limited Ed

Hi All,

I've heard about these Russian Vampire flicks, and especially the effects in the first have been compared to the Matrix. There will be domestic ( for me, US), releases coming soon, but there is also a Japanese Limited Edition set. Specs are not out for the domestic, to let us know if it has some extra 6 minutes, I've heard people talking about. There is also something about animated subtitles, that people said adds to the movie.

If anyone owns or knows any more about the SD, vs the domestic Blu, vs the Japanese set, please be so kind as to provide links.

Thanks!

I have them both in SD. I liked them but I don't know where anyone could have gotten a cross reference to the Matrix films in any way.

They're both connected films of course, Night' being the guys who keep tabs on the more evil side of man's soul-grabbers and Day' being the opposite. The two sides try and keep the other in check. There's some voodoo involved, vampires, shape-shifters. I liked the films but you have to keep an open mind. It's a mix of mythology, the occult and some humor mixed in.

They're exactly the same discs, it's just not something they obviously plan on leaving in print that long in Japan

The movie does have excellent and unique subtitling (including animation), so it's going to definately be a demo title for Blu's subbing capability if they've managed to match those using BD-J

Hopefully they just leave off the silly dub if they can't

Thanks everyone!

Yes, I am trying to wait and see if the US versions have the animated subs, and what the significance is of the 6 minutes additional footage (not sure if it is included in the Blus).

If the Japanese versions have the animated subs, then they will be animated Japanese subs if they have to hard code them.

As far as disc content goes they should be the same

Since the disc contents are listed as having J and english subs, I can only assume they have either gotten rid of the animation, done seamless branching, or managed it through BD-J

On my dvd there is a "deleted scene" of the different ending. It's like 6 minutes long I believe. To be honest- you're not missing anything. It kind of trails off instead of having a strong ending, and it hurts the overall film in my opinion. It was later cut (I assume the director had a part in it) for US audiences.

You should have flipped the disc and gotten the real actors then

Yeah I hope it's not dubbed. I'd like to see it with subtitles.

Thanks Aramis for your reply. Can anyone describe the "animated" subtitles...everyone says they contribute to the film. I've never seen the SD....

Thanks,
Sariena
