Default 12 Gauge speaker wire Help Please !!!

I was wondering if using 12 gauge wire with top of the line klipsch speakers and onkyo tx-sr875 would increase qaulity over 18 Gauge speaker wire
Also please tell me what the positives of using this thick wire
ThankYou

I would never use anything smaller than 12 gauge speaker wire personally but I'm an obsessed audiophile. It really depends on the length of the runs and how revealing your equipment is. I believe the standard recommendation is 16 gauge wire.

It depends on the quality of the cable. Assuming both cables are the same quality, there's no harm in going for the larger 12 gauge cable. (Cable diameter per se isn't an indication of its relative quality.)

It depends on the length of the wire and load of the speaker. For most home theater applications, you probably will not hear much of a difference.

Default Speaker wire

I'd definitely go with the 12 gauge over 18 gauge. Never less than 14. That's just me. I'd avoid Monster cable too. Overpriced- you'll be paying for the name. I used Aperion cable ($60 for 100'). Some would (and will, I'm sure) say that's overpriced too. But, I used it for my 1st Aperion system and used it again for my 2nd system. I'm very happy with it.

Having just recently upgraded from 18 gauge wire to audioquest 14gauge wire, I can say I do hear an improvement. I'd recommend doing it from personal experience and am very satisfied with the increased audio performance I got. While not exactly a drastic change, it was enough to notice it and appreciate the improvement. Here's the company I got my wire from, http://www.audioquest.com/ It cost me 1.35 a foot from my local dealer. I'd also recommend www.monoprice.com for their 12/14 gauge wire. It's cheap, and I'm sure it's better quality than the 18 gauge you have now.

Your question should be reworded: Is it worth it to get better sound from better wires?

Go to Monoprice! No more discussion.
