IF I SWITCH OUT MY 18GAUGE WIRE FOR SOME 12GAUGE WIRE WHAT IMPROVEMENTS WILL I GET FROM DOING THIS

Uhm, little to none?

Are you having issues with your current sound setup? Do you have especially long runs?

If the answer is no to both, skip it I say.

to add to what aramis said... if your speakers are running at a higher wattage, the thicker cable is simply to provide easier signal passage... the higher wattage, the thicker the cable should be

think of it as a one-way roadway... if you only have a few cars travelling on it you only need one or two lanes, but if there is always (or often) a large number of vehicles travelling on it, it works better with more lanes
