forget about it. We all know the more we want something from them the more they go out of their way not to provide it.

They are far to busy at this moment sipping wine, playing in God awful side-projects, and being deathly afraid of a recording studio to show any interest of putting out a live show in HD quality.

My heart goes out to you though, I've had to endure Incubus, NiN, AC/DC, and the Black Crowes, instead of getting what I really want.

Yeah this sucks man... A few years back they were thinking of doing a Dark side of the Moon type project... And 6 or so years later... NOTHING

They were actually thinking of a "The Wall" style project. Just an artsy movie filled with their music and possibly blending into their already created music videos. What we love about them is what we hate about them: they do what they want, when they want.

At best we'll get a CD in a year or two, they have been talking about a concert DVD for years if I remember right.

Still, they are always worth the wait.

I can't see them releasing any live video. When have they ever in nearly 20 years? Hell when have they even showed their faces in any of their videos? (aside from Hush). I guess it plays to their "mysterious" vibe they want to continue.

As to their album, they are right on schedule with their 5 year window between releases. So I would guess next year.

Supposedly they are working on the new album. I've only seen Tool once live. Maynard was half Blue and half Silver. He never looked straight out into the crowd or acknowledged the crowds existence. Luckily we were seated at the side of the stage so he ended up facing our direction the whole time. Felt like he was singing to us, lol. Then when they finished their set the crowd was going crazy and the only ones to come back out were the rest of the band and no Maynard. The band seemed to genuinely enjoy the praise we were giving them. I mean I love Tool don't get me wrong but Maynard is gonna do whatever he wants.

He likes to hide himself a little bit while on stage these days. Pre Lateralus days he used to act like someone on coke on stage.

I used to be a huge TOOL fan,but after seeing them three times I finally realized Maynard(I c refer to him as James Herbert Keenan aka his real name) sounds like absolute garbage live. The guy can't carry a tune if he had a magical tune bag to put them in. I've since about 2002 switched to NIN. I just feel slighted by not getting the Blu-ray for their last concert since it was never officially released. You can get one at http://thisoneisonus.org/ though. I don't believe it's ion 5.1 though. Apparrently Trent planned to put another concert BD out similar to Beside you in Time, but somehow the project got screwed up and he decided to give the footage away for free.

I've seen them 3 times as well...twice on the Lateralus tour and once on the 10K Days tour. Maynard sounded epic on the Lateralus shows. His voice was very clear and he wasn't holding back on the high notes and screaming. I think his voice has taken a toll on the last tour though, but I wouldn't say it was bad. Have you heard Axl Rose live?

As for a live DVD/Blu, it's not going to happen anytime soon. Maynard has stated that he thinks putting out live material takes away from the actual experience of being there. But it would be the holy grail of live blu-rays for me.

Keenan's live vocals have taken a hit for sure. Screaming and yelling on every song and repeating that every night for years and years will do that to you. But he's held up pretty well I think. Just compare him to Chris Cornell who was a similar type of vocalist. The guy had precise live vocals during the Aenima tour. I think he blew them out a little bit during the Lateralus tour.

I would buy a Live TOOL Blu the instant it became available. But like most of you have said I believe the band would rather poeple see them live.

I've heard that too,but I just think it's an excuse. I got one of their limited live CD's that they officially put out where Danny plays the tabla drums and they play Jimmy live. So if they state they don't put out live material, it's just not true. It was called Salival,so to say they don't want to put out a live concert dvd, because it'd take away from something is a fallacy.

Their most recent tour just finished, and I've heard that they will be working on a new album after that tour had finished. So yes to possible new CD at the end of this year up to spring next year. A concert BD on the other hand is probably not in the works or I haven't heard any mention of one.

+1 That pretty much sums it up. I never took Tool as a fan friendly band. I wouldn't mind seing a new A Perfect Circle album if Tool wants to keep dragging their feet on us.

I have seen Tool 4 times and A Perfect Circle twice and I thought Maynard's voice was fine. The best show that I saw was on the Lateralus tour, they had those stretchy dudes that were in the Schism video perform during the show. They also played "Opiate" as well as "Hush" for encores.

When I saw NIN for the Witrh Teeth tour I felt that that was the best live band I've ever heard. It was a group that sounded as good or better than they do on their albums.

Yea they were going to use James Camerons 3d tech for the blu ray and show it in theaters

New album in the works! Who knows when it will be finished. I'm guessing late summer to early winter. I've seen TooL live 9 times from 1997 to 2009. I agree that Maynard used to sound better live and was able to hold notes (screams) for long periods of time. This was during the Aenima and Lateralus tours. Now he doesn't usually attempt those drawn out screams, which is understandable. He still sounds good but, he's just past his prime vocally. I would still go see tool live any day though. As far as a Blu ray concert goes, I would be so happy to see one released but, I'm not holding my breath.
