MGS4 for me has the best sound of any game I've played so far. The sound can be subtle and bombastic at the right times and it the surround effects are great.

Your gonna get alot of people saying-

MGS4, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, and Resistance.

Anything thats on the 360 as well as the PS3 (*excluding Devil May Cry 4*) is just a port of the 360 version's audio meaning that you will only get Dolby Digital 5.1. Devil May Cry 4 had the ability to output as PCM, however you needed to force it by unchecking everything except for PCM 5.1 in the Audio Output Settings of the PS3.
But yeah, PS3 exclusive games definately have the best audio for the most part.

I can contribute to tell you the worst audio. The orange box has hands down the worst audio on the ps3. 2 channels.........why only 2 channels. How can they not support 5.1?????

I can attest that there is no better 7.1 PCM sounds being used by any current game out there than warhawk.

I just helped my dad put in a Def tech procinema 7.1 system using pro1000 across the front, and pro800's for the sides and surrounds with a prosub 800 using a denon 2308 and there is simply no comparison to any other game currently out there. To hear guns "walk" around you and track vehicles accurately behind you including planes is almost surreal.

sometimes ill go over to his house just to hear it and be jealous since I only have the procinema 600 series... 5.1 is just not the same...

Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, and Lair (worth another look with the new control scheme)

I don't have 7.1 (only 5.1), but there has been many times the rear channels have given me a heads up that a guy was running up behind me swinging a knife - had enough time to turn and take a few steps back and throw a grenade in his face.

I've also heard that familiar high frequency "beeping" sound, and stopped dead in my tracks knowing a mine was lying nearby.

The sound on Warhawk is crazy. Standing next to a missle turret while it goes off is quite bombastic.

I also love the sound of the flag being picked up and/or dropped. (You have to have the game to know what that sound is.)

Besides, Warhawk is THX certified!

The audio in MGS4 is good, but honestly, Warhawk blows it out of the water. MGS4 contains very little deep bass. Warhawk has loads of deep bass, especially with the airstrikes. The panning and distance is also very accurate with the sound effects in Warhawk as well. If there is another game with audio as good as Warhawk, I'll buy it just for that.

Add GTAIV to the sucks list.

MGS4 and Warhawk do have excellent audio. Those are mainly what i've been playing lately. I haven't tried my older games since I've revamped my surround system

Yeah, I had the volume cranked up one day for the hell of it, the music was blaring as I logged in - I spawned in to my first map and could hear explosions of in the distance. I was running around grabbing grenades, machine guns, etc. I stopped to look around and make sure no one was coming at me. Then, all of a sudden a massive explosion blasted right next to me, coming from the side wall (left front speaker and rear speaker) that made me jump out of my freakin seat!

I guess some other guy had spawned in, gotten in the missle turret and happened to fire it when I was right next to it. D@mn that thing is loud!

I'd like to add GT5:P. It really gives you a sense of being in the actual car.

Battlefield: Bad Company has the best audio I've heard this generation and it's multiplatform.

Anything can be turned up loud enough to rattle the adjacent wall but that doesn't make it dynamically superior. As I stated above, MGS4 is good but it doesn't hold a candle to Warhawk.
