Question Thread ostracism

Yesterday I started a (light-hearted) thread about what a bad day the US stock market had in the "off topic" section. I even managed to work in some "It's a Wonderful Life" movie quotes. Sometime between last night and today it was removed. I reviewed the forum rules carefully before starting the thread. Just wondering why it was removed, banished, never to be heard from again??????

Forum rules and guidelines
We have a nice group of members and would like to keep it that way. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

General rules

NO TROLLING *
Please do not use foul language.
No bashing other members.
No racist remarks or discussion of race or race relations.
Don't threadcrap. In other words don't go into a thread about golfing and post "golf sucks" etc. It's unconstructive and it insults people who like golf.
If you can't contribute anything positive to the thread don't respond at all - just report the post if you think it should be reported.
No post whoring, we have enough posts as it is.
Be careful with using humor as it can be easily misinterpreted.
You are only allowed to discuss religion and politics when it is the main topic of a specific movie. Keep in mind that all people are different and have different beliefs, so be respectful to each other. Stay on topic and make sure what you say is directly related to the movie.
Please do not post the same topic in multiple areas.
You are not allowed to post advertising or engage in any other type of promotion.
You are not allowed to have advertising or advertising links in your signature.
You are not allowed to have a username that's the same as a site, or similar indirect advertising.
If posting a news item, provide quote + a link to where you found the information.
Please do not post a reply in a spam thread. Report the thread and it will be removed as soon as a Mod / Admin is available.
Use the Report Post option via the icon to report any rule violations rather than responding to them directly.
If your only purpose on this forum is to question Blu-ray as a format and bringing negativity to the forum, then you are not welcome.
You are not allowed to discuss how to scam or rip-off stores/retailers.
It is strictly prohibited to discuss websites, techniques, software and any and all methods that can be used to duplicate, acquire or otherwise access copyrighted and copy protected material except via approved methods by the copyright holders (Blu-ray, DVD, iTunes, digital on-disc copies etc). This includes any and all all variations of disc copying software, torrents and any and all technologies that are available or may become available in the future for these purposes.
Do no troll other sites or encourage other members to troll other sites. Blu-ray.com reserves the right to revoke or deny to anyone for any reason at any time without warning or prior notice access or membership to this site and its public forums.

* We've been extremely liberal and relaxed on this forum and we've allowed things that would get you banned immediately on other forums. We even let a famous member (later it showed up that this person was working for Toshiba) rave on and on about HD-DVD for 600+ posts. We took the discussions seriously, but every time we scored an obvious point and proved his arguments to be invalid, he started talking about something else. In the end it's not funny to go to the blu-ray.com forum and talk about HD-DVD every day. Since we are the "Blu-ray.com" site, we are the #1 target for HD-DVD trolls. We are already sick and tired of trolls and to keep this place a nice place for our regular members, we have enforced a zero tolerance policy against trolling. If you are a new member and come here posting about how evil Sony is, how politically correct Microsoft is, or new super cheap Chinese HD-DVD players, you're on your way to an extremely fast ban. Thank you for understanding.

Common questions

Stocks and shares
Q. Can I buy shares in Blu-ray?
A. No. Blu-ray is a standard that has been made up by a number of companies formed as an organisation (BDA) to manage various aspects of Blu-ray, such as licensing. That association is not a public company. The only way to invest in Blu-ray is to purchase shares from a company that is producing Blu-ray components or products. This site is for providing information on the technology of Blu-ray and does not provide any financial or investment services. Anyone that does try and sell their services on this forum, will find their posts deleted and access blocked to any more postings.

It's a combination of things...... The Moderators are jealous (and rightly so) of our beloved Red Wings, and also they have a deep hatred for Jimmy Stewart for unknown reasons......

It's because the talk was beginning to turn political, so they closed it before things got out of hand.

Well that makes sense. but dont they have a way to delete indevidual posts without closing the whole thread. I see all kinds of posts skew into all sorts of different crazy directions here. The thread, when started, had no political leanings.

Really? I guess you can say that about almost anything. I personally dont see the correlation but as it turns out you were right (I guess)........ I never saw what the responses were beyond the first couple posts.

I would suggest PM'ing a mod to ask them who edited the thread (nothing gets completely deleted, only moved) and then you can ask specifically that mod.

No point in starting a thread to ask why a thread was deleted, that's never constructive.

Right. Thanks for the advice. Lets think of this as my selfish attempt to find out how I broke the rules and find out why a thread I started got deleted. I didnt know a better way to ask than to start a new thread in the Feedback forum where the mods check to answer this sort of question.
I thought that a mod that might know why it got closed might see my question and answer. not just suggest better ways to ask.

You started a thread supposedly about the stock market, which consisted mostly of Wonderful Life quotes and silliness. Some replied with (unrelated) fluff, while others posted serious economic dissertations, which were then block-quoted by you in replies with basically an "I agree" and a slew of smilies.

The topic was pointless, post-whorish, and yes... wandering into political territory, etc. as well.

Ma'am, I suspect you might as well lock this thread, that last statement might incite a whole slew of deragotory backslash commentary from many forum members.

Anyway, the worst thing to do is start to question MOD's publicly. They are just like us, only they have to police the forum (a ***** to do, and I dont like it personally) AND be fair. They are just trying to do the best for the forums, and so they deserve to be questioned in private

Iceman and WickyWoo have been good at answering PM's, and they normally will explain the reason (ie, it might not be written in the rules, but it is a grey area that they protect the forum from. pehaps A person with a few posts will be treated a little more critically than a person with 1000.)

Anyway, I would just let it go (why bother them over something so little). If it means a lot to you, contact them.

Quite the opposite, my friend, just to clear up. A person with 1000 posts is treated far more critically than one with a few, and someone with 3000+ posts is suspended almost immediately,

We are expected to know the rules as we age, hence the drop in leniency that comes with account age and post number. I.e., if we were to both commit the same serious infraction (say, volatile swearing), you'd be suspended for a week, I'd be banned for a month. I say this from experience - personal or that of compatriots. Just had to clear up that one little thing.

And as for the Sharon Stone pic, where's the rest of it? Can't ban yourself, Deci, it's ok,
