Default Delay Buying BD Movies Immediately

I now have 8 BD movies that I purchased over the past 5 months. Thankfully most of the movies I'm interested in haven't been released yet; hence the small number of discs. I say thankfully because I have already learned a big lesson.

Do not buy movies immediately upon their release!

Five of the movies I own have since been offered at 50% off at online stores. I'm sure the others will follow.

Bladerunner 5 Disc Set
300
Predator
Terminator 1 & 2

I also own:

Patton
Battle of Britain
Master and Commander

Like anything else that's new on the market the price will always start high. I just didn't realize there would be such drastic markdowns so soon after the initial release.

I know... Blade Runner is $17 now for a 5-disc set..... that's cheaper than a new DVD !!!!!

Patton is awesome too.... how is the PQ/AQ on Battle of Britain?

I will buy some movies when they come out because I want them as soon as I can get them. Batman Begins will be expensive, but I will buy it the day it comes out, so I can watch it that night. I will probably wait for V for Vendetta to get cheaper before I buy it.

There are movies that I want day one. For example: Gangs of New York, The Omen, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Shawshank Redemption to name a few. I can't wait most the time.

Yeah, I'm not much for waiting. Part of the reason I buy locally instead of ordering online and sometimes drive all over town looking for titles before the release date.

Some titles I can wait on. However, some, such as future releases like Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, that I must own on day 1.

This is one I've anticipated a long time, despite the datedness of many of the effects-- PQ/AQ did not disappoint me. Love those planes!

And sometimes you can still get them cheap anyway right when they come out. I have Shawshank reserved for $14.96...

Is this really worth starting a thread about? I am glad you like blu-ray movies, and wait to find the best deal, but the best deal is all relative to many factors that are very individual. Things are always cheaper in the electronics world several weeks/months after release.

I can wait on some movies, especially ones I already own on DVD (catalogue titles), but for new or old ones that I REALLY want, it is hard to wait.

Thats movies. They drop alot. Just got to keep an eye out if you buy from Amazon as you have 30 days to get some money if it lowers.

I would do this if I have you around to when I reach for that movie, and it's not there. I promise to resuscitate you

just to do it all over again when I reach for another movie......AND IT'S NOT THERE.
