A.I. and Eternal Sunshine blah, blah, blah, and Beyond Thunderdome should not be on the list. However, Flash Gordon, Mad Max, and the Road Warrior should be. And where is Metropolis? Someone deserves a haymaker to the left eye.

Yeah, Metropolis oughta be on that list...

Hasn't Planet of the Apes been teased for later this year?

Would 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea qualify as SF?

Leaving off The Empire Strikes Back? C'mon, "No... I am your father!" is one of the most quoted lines from a sci-fi movie. I guess they can't have more than one SW film on there, but I think ESB is really deserving.

ESB is better than A New Hope, thats the thing that kills me, when its never mentioned.

and "No, I AM your father" is probably the most quoted line in all of movies, period.

Empire is definitely the best of the series. It should be in this list instead of Independence Day, IMHO.

Episodes V, or VI would be better than some of the crap that is on there now. Seriously, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, I would call that a craptacular Romcom and not a sci-fi flick. It's like calling LOTR a drama and not a fantasy. And where is Donnie Darko????

I agree, I like the movie and all, but I would probably call it more of a drama. Especially that since once he is comitted to the institution, there really isn't any scifi elements at all.

And was A.I. really that good. It was o.k., but one of the best ever?

Where would Event Horizon fit in this grouping, scifi or horror?

Donnie Darko is left off the list probably due to the fact thats its one of the most underrated movies of all time.

When I saw "Westworld" I had initially thought it was "Waterworld." I would've had to have thrown the PC out the window had that really read "Waterworld."

Well they were Science Fiction when the stories appeared. (see J. Verne)
Star Trek communicators become cel phones etc

Orange is SF because, it speculates that in the future gangs and crimes will get worse and more violent, governments and medicine/science will be able to control emotions or behavior, etc etc.

Science Fiction can be the speculation of how things might change with a basis on science to try see how things might go.

Time, society, perspective, changes the perception of movies over time. When I saw A Clockwork Orange when I was a kid (the uncut version) it seemed futuristic (If you saw the 2001 on the record store, it felt like saying that was England in 2001), a couple of years later I saw The Warriors and it was as if the future was imploding back on itself and going backwards, what seemed futuristic on ACO went contemporary on The Warriors. *sound of descending notes of Giorgio Moroder's Cat People dream sequence music

Besides it previewed an ad campaign by several years!

Nice list although they list a few I haven't seen or heard of. Guess I'll see if I can rent some of them.

Hell, yes! Rollerball is on the list and 20,000 Leagues is not?

A huge favorite of mine and thank heaven for the 2003 restored SE.

Under that definition, 1984 should be there as well.
