Anyone ever read House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski? I loved this book and think it would make an amazing movie.

Yes you are correct. I think it would take someone like Fincher, M. Night, del Toro, or even Lynch to direct this task of material. They would also have to be on their A game, get final cut, and stay true to the book.

Not quite...

While this is the best "newish" book I have read, it is definately not for everyone. Most either love or hate it.

Here's my recommendation to you...The Road by Cormac McCarthy...amazing book and already in the works in becoming a movie...you will really like it.

OK....I got it in on Friday from Amazon...Today is Monday and let me tell you, HOLY CRAP!!! Know this...there is absolutely no way for this book to be put into movie form. I am really glad you like it. I love passing on good books to people who appreciate them. I've passed this book on to 2 other people who did not get it. Maybe it is just me but the idea of the things that happen in the Navidson Record actually scared me a bit.

I loved how it started by explaining how this book would mess you up!

Keep me posted as you go through the book. I love "re-living" the book through others.

The only think they could do movie-wise would be to make it about the Navidson Record only and exclude most of Johnny's story, imo.

Yes...it would definitely have to be a faux-documentary...kind of like Blair Witch...but, with a much larger budget of course.

An interesting thing I just Wiki'd about it....

The authors sister is Poe, the singer...she released an album at the same time as this book was released...apparently, they felt the songs and the book intertwined...hmm...I used to have that CD when it first came out...

in a remake of one of the songs on that CD, she adds in the author reading parts of the book...how awesome..

you need to tackle this novel completely different than any other book you have read...don't be afraid of taking notes if you start getting confused...also, follow the footnotes all of the way to their end....even if you need to get a mirror..
