Exclamation Home Cinema Advice

hi,

im looking to buy a HD Home Cinema System all in seperates, from the US to use in the UK, im looking for mostly SONY products.

I wish to know if...

1) i can use the US products in the UK (if i will need a power converter etc..)
2) if you reccomend this as the UK prices seem very steep and the US has far more choice.
3) any good sites that will ship to the UK.

hope you can help

Yeah using all US components? That's a pretty heavy transformer you'll need.

You should be able to find one there. Make sure you get one that's substantially more than the maximum wattage of your equipment combined ok?

electricity will not be the biggest of your worries.

make sure that any dvd player you get is region free, as once you hit europe you will no longer be able to purchase region 1(N. America) DVD's. All Denon's are region free, most others are not.

TV's in europe also use a different system for broadcasts (US uses NTSC/ATSC most of the rest of the world is using PAL) they are not necessarily compatible with each other.

As far as Sony, no real reason to stay there in audio except for the name. Audio from Sony far underperforms its price tag. Their amps have relatively high distortion levels, and low quality power centers. Especially for their price points. Stick with Denon for your receivers, dollr for dollar the lowest distortion and the highest current at each price point.

Sony is good for tv's though.

You will need to make sure the device you are buying will work on both 50/60hz.
