Every time someone offers Bonus Content, threads get clogged with questions about whether or not there's a Bonus Disc.
No matter who sells what, the studios are fairly consistent in how they supply Bonus Content. Disney: Bonus Discs in the past, more and more digital streaming starting with 2014 (BD, then DVD, then digital streaming) [Show spoiler] DreamWorks (currently distributed by Fox): Bonus Disc (DVD) [Show spoiler] Fox: Bonus Content is infrequent, though they gave Target Bonus Discs for Safe Haven and The Best of Me (DVD). HBO: Bonus Discs (BD) Lionsgate/Summit: Bonus Discs (usually Target), with some featurettes given to Walmart via VUDU Paramount: Bonus Discs (BD) Sony: Bonus Discs (BD or DVD) Starz / Anchor Bay: Bonus Discs (DVD) Universal: Bonus Discs (DVD) [Show spoiler] Warner: Custom BDs (Argo, The Dark Knight Rises, 42, Godzilla, The Great Gatsby, Pacific Rim) Last edited by jscoggins; 02-12-2015 at 03:45 AM. |

To help expand on your post:
What kind of disc (when they are separate discs) do you get? Paramount - bonus discs are BDs HBO - bonus discs are BDs Universal - bonus discs are DVDs Sony - bonus discs are usually DVDs, but sometimes BDs (Mythbusters Breaking Bad special, 2012 Target exclusive) Disney - bonus discs have been both BDs (Pirates 4, Avengers) and DVDs (Monsters University, Planes, Frozen), but now they are digital downloads (when they actually work correctly: looking right at you there Winter Soldier!) Warner - when they used to do bonus discs, they were DVDs Fox - on the rare occasion they have done a bonus disc, they are DVDs For the 3D customer, consider this: Warner - only their 2D releases get the bonus content, the 3D releases do not Sony - sometimes the 3D versions also get the bonus discs (as with both Amazing Spider-man films), and sometimes they don't (as with Men In Black 3, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2, and Smurfs 2) |

It would be really helpful if people post screenshots of menus from Bonus Discs. That would really help cut down on confusion and inaccurate information.

Not really sure if I would call Disney on the retailer exclusive digital video bonus backwagon now in terms of retailer exclusives.
I don't count DMA exclusive bonus video features, since they are not tied to a specific digital retailer service as DMA doesn't sell content directly (digital sales are thru DMA providers but Disney doesn't sell it directly as they did with Disney Movies Online). Also, most retailer video exclusive content (digital or physical) is only available thru the retailer exclusive disc or the digital retailer and is generally not on DMA. Granted, all of the Marvel Studios retailer exclusives were digital last year, but Disney branded titles with retailer exclusives remain bonus DVDs (Planes: Fire and Rescue had a e-book included as a Target Exclusive bonus gift, as it is not bonus video content). 2014 and 2015 Disney Bonus Content Retailer Exclusives Thor: The Dark World (Marvel) - iTunes and Vudu digital exclusive features (Vudu exclusive feature included in select in store Walmart 3D combo packs). Frozen (Disney) - Target Bonus Features DVD disc (Art Gallery found on Target Bonus DVD disc would later be available on iTunes, but bonus disc video content exclusive) The Pirate Fairy (Disney) - Walmart Bonus DVD short (Pixie Hollow Bake-off, later briefly on DMA). Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Marvel) - Target Ticket and iTunes Digital Exclusive Featurettes Sleeping Beauty (Disney) - Walmart Bonus DVD (Disneybounding) Guardians of the Galaxy (Marvel) - Target Ticket Digital Exclusive Featurette 101 Dalmatians (Disney) - Walmart Bonus DVD (Disney Dog Show) Big Hero 6 (Disney) - Walmart Bonus DVD (The Science of Big Hero 6) The Legend of the Neverbeast (Disney) - Walmart Bonus DVD So in terms of retailer exclusive bonus video content (which excludes DMA exclusive videos), Disney branded titles still have their retailer bonus video content as DVDs. Marvel branded titles had only digital video content last year, and now with Target Ticket out of the picture, it's hard to say whether Marvel Studios titles will continue to have digital only featurettes not on DMA.
