Default Sony Blu-ray

We had a Home Theater system installed 2 months ago. This is what we have.
Panasonic-TH58PZ700U-Bose Lifestyle V20-and a Sony Blu-Ray BDP-S 300.

Everything was great until last night! I will admit that we don't use the Sony very often, in fact last night would have been the third time.

When we put the DVD in to play..it reads on my Bose system that there is no DVD video!

I checked all the plugs, they seem fine. HDMI out from DVD to HDMI in TV..From cable box HDMI back of TV.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Marilyn

I recently switched out my Bose Lifestyle 35 for a more custom and interchangeable system. I'm not quite up to par on your Bose system, but when I play a BD on my BDP, the Bose unit will not read that a disk is present because I'm not running the BDP through the Bose. It runs direct to the Plasma since the receiver does not have HDMI in or outputs. So, consequently, the Bose receiver will not display that I have a DVD in the Bose tray.

Do you have your BDP running through your V20 via HDMI? Are you able to watch a BD eventhough you're display reads no DVD video? If you're running it direct to the TV, then this is why you're getting this read on your Bose receiver.

Again, I'm not very familiar with your particular Bose system, so I hope this sheds some light on your issue (which may be no issue if you're able to watch a DVD still).

Ok, just checked out your Bose system and it does have HDMI capability. I really couldn't speak into your situation beyond what I've already said here. Unless someone else can offer you any resolution, I would suggest you call the Bose service center and get a tech on the phone with you. It sounds like a simple settings issue. Their techs are very knowledgeable and extremely friendly.

Be forewarned, there are Bose haters on this forum that are going to most likely follow-up with insults and childish banter about Bose in general. Put your armor on and take everything you read with a grain of salt. There are some very experienced audiophiles here that have a very good grasp on equipment. I'm sure their intentions will not be too insult and degrade you, rather educate you. It will probably come across as insulting though.

Good luck on your issue and I thoroughly enjoyed my Bose Lifestyle for 6 years. I'm just ready to step it up and bring on the options. Enjoy what you have and be happy with your choices. I'm sure you are anyway.

I can't imagine a legitimate "home theater installer" would pass Bose off as home theater.
If you can, make them take it back and do it right!

Default Sony Blu-Ray

ED,
Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly!

You were absolutely right about the setting problem. For some reason it wasn't going to the HDMI 2 setting, it was staying on the HDMI 1.

Again thank you so much!
