Default I ordered my plazzy, now what?

Hey guys. If you read my other thread with the poll then you know I just ordered a Panny Plazzy. Heres a link with the specs:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....egories&ks=960

I know I need to get a calibration blu ray to properly adjust the settings, and of course I need a HDMI cable for my PS3. I know I should get it from monoprice, but which particular one?

Also, I'm going to hook my Wii up to it as well. Should I just use the cables that came with the wii or is their a better option out there?

Lastly, and this seems to be a debated topic, do I need to get a "break in" dvd or whatever to help the break in phase for the plasma, let it take it's natural course, use some other method, or is this even an issue?

Thanks everyone!

Well, I got my HDMI cables from monoprice, and the DVE blu-ray from ebay. I read thru the AVS link, but the break in dvd topic seems to be debated over there as well. Any input on that issue is appreaciated.

I got my plasma last week and am currently running the break-in dvd. I don't know how much if any it will help, but I figure it can't hurt. Panasonic admits the first 100 hours for a plasma are the most dangerous for burn-in, so I decided to run the dvd.

When i got my panasonic back at the beginning of May, I broke my TV in over 150 hours in a little under 6 days time. I used my PS3's music Visual Player to do it (not the planetfall VP, but the original one with shapes and colours that shift with the music) setting the playlist to a random shuffle, and turning off the screen icons. It seemed to work well and there was a definite difference (at least to me) in the vibrancy and brightness of the colours from when I first turned the TV on for the initial programing.

As to the calibration, I used a combination of a professional ISF calibrator's numbers over on AVSforum, with my own personal tweaks using the calibration tools found on the Sony Blu-Ray easter eggs. I'm pretty happy overall with the results. I, and others, have posted our custom numbers on a thread in a sub-forum above, if you want to check and compare them with yours.

OT, but...

150 hours in less than 6 days? Can I buy your time machine?

6(days) * 24(hours) = 144.

Now back to your regularly scheduled topic.

Hrmm....

I knew my math skills were going bad, but damn... Can I change that to "around 6 days", so... me... not... sound... so... stoopid?

I don't think I saw anyone answer this but you can purchase component cables that will allow a 480p picture on your new TV, but I'm not certain how much improvement this will yield.

I added the link below with the assumption you're a reward zone member. You'll most likely be able to find a cheaper option but thought this would be a good place to start.

Best Buy Link to Wii component cables

BTW, Congrats on your TV!
