I have a business that is planning to move into selling Blu-Ray movies just after the holidays. We are interested in knowing where we can purchase these movies wholesale and distributors that we can purchase these through. Thank you.

I realize this is an old thread, but I thought I would answer the question in case anyone was searching for the information.
The largest two distributors in North America are: Ingram Entertainment and Baker And Taylor Those are the big boys! |

Any idea where to find out more info? Their websites seemed pretty scant on BD info, regarding quantities and prices.

Most places run a certain dollar amount of product to open up an account. usually between 5 and $10,000.
If you don't want to make that investment, often there are local distributors that allow shops to pool their orders, but your wholesale price usually goes up about 5% for every step in the chain you make |

I imagine that's still a bit more expensive, because FamilyVideo.com is still adding some markup on top of what they get the movies for. Of course, ordering 100 is a lot easier for a lot of people than ordering 1,000 copies of a movie.

Doing blu ray trade-ins would be a sound option and more profitable than buying them wholesale I'd imagine.

My advice. Don't bother. With Amazon (and other large online retailers) selling all Blu-ray titles at 30% or more off MSRP you really can't survive as a smaller online etailer. At best, you'll be able to get titles wholesale for slightly less than Amazon charges (realize their wholesale prices are quite a bit lower than what you can get as a smaller retailer), and with Ebay/PayPal's cut you would lose money on most titles you sell at Amazon's price -- and that's assuming you can get people to pay you Amazon's price (they have free shipping too of course).

You should also be open to international market ie Europe, and Australia, New Zealand as well. So that way you can sell more things.

Actually that's probably the only way to make it work semi-successfully. You can't compete with Amazon for U.S. business, but you might be able to make it work with international orders if you can get cheap enough shipping worked out.
