i just got a pair of polk audio speakers from my dad (Polk SDA 1C), i love these speakers, i remember the day he brought them home. they are in great shape, just a little hole in the cloth, and a couple staind spots on the wood. not a huge deal. im going to be ordering a new receiver pretty soon, maybe a yamaha 663 (im on a sort of budget.) would that be a good match? also with these as fronts, what would be good for a center, rears, and sub (if i even need a sub, these speakers a have awsome bass)

You are set for a little while.
I started my set up with a Yamaha Rx-V400 and a stereo set of Paradigms. Next get a center and then your surrounds. Then get your sub. Yep...good start. The polks will serve you well. Enjoy. ps - pick a center with cones of relative size to your fronts and you should be okay. You definitely want to go with an American brand to match the voicing of your Polks. |

you might have a problem here... the SDA series of speakers have very low impredances and most of the AV gear cannot handle low impedances. Yoy will probably find that the amp will go into protected mode as it will not have the power supply to deliver the current the speakers requires.
Secondly, the crossovers will probably need to be recapped. The caps are about 20 years old and their values would have changed by now, changing the overall sound. Replacing the caps with audio caps such as Sonicaps will yeild tremendous results. Do not use Solens as they are not suited with the Polks. |

Polk makes some nice speaker sets that are smaller, and for people on a budget, just go on Amazon and look around.
