Default Wimbledon 2008 - Federer/Nadal

Did anyone else see this years AMAZING Wimbledon Finals match between Roger Federer and Raphael Nadal?

Unbelievable. And since this is really the only forum I belong to, I'm tainting the Movie and TV Discussion section with this thread.

I, personally, would love to see this amazing, longest running, historical, claimed to be best match ever in Wimbledon (and some say all of tennis) history on blu-ray.

If nobody else out there is a tennis fan.....then i feel sorry for you missing out on this epic match in sporting history.

I never watch Tennis but I watched a little bit of it. Federer was winning I think. I don't even know how the game is played lol. Who won though?

I did watch Anthony Kim win in the golf tournament though.....just happened to catch it lol.

Haha. Actually, Federer never had the lead the entire match. The closest he got was a tie after the 4th set with 2 sets all.

Nadal won it in the 5th set. I was rootin for Federer. He would have broken more than a couple records if he had.

It was a tennis match of excellent quality. I was rooting for Nadal mainly to end Federer's reign at Wimbledon. It wasn't the greatest match I ever saw but it is definitely in my top ten. I don't think either Nadal or Federer will win the US Open.

I agree. I dont think it was the all time best match ever, but wow. It was amazing to watch and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole match.

I would be surprised to see either win the US Open as well. Nadal just hasnt showed very much promise at the Open, and Federer's spirits have to be hanging really low after getting beat by Nadal....again. Only this time to have his 5 year streak get shattered and to put his #1 Ranking in question.

I guess I was watching the match before Federer and Nadal lol. Federer played with another guy, can't remember his name, but I guess he won.

Or maybe I'm losing it and it was Nadal. How long Tennis? Do they keep playing for two days or something?

that may have been the greatest finals match ever! I can say with confidence, it was a privilege to see that spectacle of greatness. There were no losers in that match. It was the start of a great rivalry. I was thoroughly impressed by the magnificent play. Un-frickin-believable!

Haha, its all good. The whole Wimbledon Tournament lasted about 2 weeks. And to be in the finals, you'll have to go through 5 matches or brackets to get to the finals, which would be the 6th and final match i believe.

EDIT: And yes, I agree wholeheartedly with your post UPSandy. With all of this scandal and drug and steroid abuse going in major league sports, you never hear a single word of it leaking into the world of tennis. These guys and gals play clean and fierce for hours on end in an extremely physically exhausting game of speed, stamina and agility.

All without the help of steroids or performance enhancing drugs. These guys and gals are the real deal.

I think it was a very entertaining and competitive match. Unforgettable.

By the way, last year's final was released in DVD. Would it be so much to ask that this year's final is released in Blu Ray?

I agree, but it wasn't the start of the rivalry. Federer had been unbeatable and dominated Nadal up until this year. Nadal won at French Open and then won yesterday, which I really did not want to see. Either he got better or Federer got worse--probably a bit of both. I love the way Federer just floats over the court. His footwork is so light and he's so skillful with the racket. Nadal is like a brute caveman by comparison, more of a power game. Federer had so many chances to break Nadal and just never got it done. They were playing more of a psychological game than anything physical, as they're both in phenomenal shape.

How do you know? I wouldn't be surprised to learn that some tennis players use PEDs to aid in recovery time.

I suppose i dont know for a fact.

But considering there's been pretty major scandals brought out in more than a couple major league sports not only recently, but in the past as well, tennis has never been included in any of those accusations. At least not that I have heard of.

I wouldnt be all that surprised either to find out that some of these guys have or will be taking some sort of performance enhancers. But I take these tennis players not being brought up in these steroids reports as a pretty amazing feat.
