HDMI question??

Anyone know if an HDMI v1.3 cable is really needed to connect avr to bluray then to hdtv, I ordered a few but was wondering if it really matters. Thx

For as cheap as they are, you might as well ensure you have the most current cable so you don't have to worry about not having an adequate cable.

I hate to admit it, but I'd like to know, also. I thought I remembered reading that HDMI cables were just cables and that the v1.3, etc. was only applicable to the actual HDMI port (for lack of a better word) on the device. For purely marketing reasons, the v1.3 was added to cables to make folks believe they needed to upgrade. Again, that's what I remember reading, and would like to know if that is true or not. Crackin'? Doby?
