Default How long had the PS2 been on shelves when Final Fantasy 10 came out??

The reason I ask is that I was trying to compare to PS3 and how long it has taken for FF-13 to come out.

Wikipedia will probably have your answer

Search for FFX and PS2 then compare release dates

PS2 came out in March '00, FFX came out in July the following year in Japan.

In the US the PS2 came out in Oct '00, FFX came out in December the following year.

So either 16 months or 14 months, depending.

Thank you.
It appears this time around the gap will be a LOT wider.

I'll throw this in:
PlayStation came out in Japan beginning of December 1994, with FF7 coming at the end of January '97, totaling 26 months. In America, PS1 came out September of '95, with FF7 exactly 2 years later.

Blame it on all the Final Fantasy VII spinoffs and old remakes for the DS.

The remakes and spinoffs are like printing money, but at the same time the main series both makes more and is what makes those remakes and spinoffs earn money.

Final Fantasy XII outsold all of the DS/Gameboy advance remakes combined, and the Final Fantasy XII and Crisis Core spinoffs barely cracked one million units.

I know the main Final Fantasy series are more costly to make but even so the main series is the bread winner.

FF9 came out for PS1 around the time the PS2 came out IIRC. That would also explain some of the gap until 10.
