Angry We Spend More Money But We Still Dont Get The Bonuses!

ok wtf are these stupid stores thinking? i was at BB yesterday picking up my Batman Limited edition, and i look on the paper and it says BB Exclusive Joker Lithograph!, fine print reads *EXCLUDES BLU RAY!* wtf is this, the damn thing costs $39.99 for BR and it costs like $22 for SD and they get the damn sweet extra! WHY WHY WHY?

why is there a Steeelbook collectors edition of I Am Legend and theres just the regular package for BR?

why do we get the damn shaft everytime?

I think it is because we are spending more money that we don't get the bonuses. Why give us more stuff, eh? Heck, I'm sure if you threw a hissy fit you could get it from them.

Of course, this could spiral into the whole people-who-care-about-extras versus people-who-dont-give-a-rats-booty-about-extras debate.

Hmm. Let's observe, shall we?

I had a talk with BB's PR people after the I Am Legend thing

I hit many points with them, including the fact that the average Blu buyer drops exponentially more money when he drops

The policy will be changing, but don't look for that to happen till fall because these things are set up months and months in advance

This is more of a Warner thing isn't it? Warner is all about the doo dads. They absolutely set up Begins to bend over the Batman fans.

Good to hear WW.
This kind of think totally kills any progress made in BD adoption and honestly makes studios and merchants look like drooling idiots.

All they give you for the money is Superior Audio, and Video quality........

They should throw in Extras...... and Autographs from cast members.... and maybe a pass to see upcoming movies..... and a gas card to get to the theater..... and vouchers for free soda and popcorn..... and a car wash for after I return from the movie in my now dirty vehicle........ and a check should be included... to offset the opportunity cost I encountered during the time I watched the movie.....

OP.... you're onto something here........

I agree with the OP that Blu buyers should get the same store bonuses that the DVD buyers get.

that's not at all a fair criticism of the OP. he's not asking for more extras, he's just saying people buying a blu version deserve the same bonuses from a retailer as those buying the dvd. I don't see how this isn't 100% sensible. we're buying the same film and in fact spending more money.

I am sure it all ties to the bottom line and how much profit is made from DVD and how much is made on Blu-ray. But I think it makes sense that the deals and extra should include all versions of the films, be it on DVD or Blu-ray.

If you get a freebie with purchase, why not include the Blu-ray version to get the freebie also. Or if you have a deal where you buy two different new releases or an old release and new release, you get an extra $5 off the total (Best Buy seems to offer deals like this frequently), why not include the Blu versions in this deal?

Anyway, regarding the topic, it seems to me like it's just something to give people incentive to buy the DVD again, since I imagine most Batman fans already have the DVD from the previous release.
