Default how is this hdtv?

Samsung - 40" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
Model: LN40A53

ive looked into a bunch of 40-42 inch hdtvs, and this is the one i have decided to go with, using a 12 percent coupon at best buy, it is in my price range at around 1100 dollars.

does anyone have this tv and can comment on it? it got 20 5 star ratings out of 24 on bestbuy.com, and the 4 that weren't 5 stars picked on the tv sound and lack of vcr inputs, which i obviously don't care about.

still, some blu ray forum help would be nice.

also, please do not recommend to me to get a plasma i know a lot of you like them, but i just hate the reflectivity of the screens even though the picture itself is a bit nicer than lcds. so, just help on the samsung! thanks guys

The Samsung LN40A53 that you mentioned will convert 1080P/24 signal from a BLU-RAY to 60HZ using 3:2 pulldown. BLU-RAY will look good at 60HZ but multiplies of 24fps looks better and is more natural for film reproduction. Samsung makes 120HZ displays that avoid 3:2 pulldown.
Check out the Samsung LN40A750. The contrast ratio and black levels are better then any LCD screen I have seen so far and it also properly displays 1080P/24 correctly on the screen when AMP is turned off.
Best buy has it for $2,099.99

The reviews starting to show up are saying that the Samsung 750 series are currently the best quality LCD flat panels on the market for picture quality.

Retail stores have a advantage of a 30 day return policy but if you are interested in the LN40A750 it can be purchased for around $1500-$1650 from various online dealers.

My favorite flat panels are the Pioneer Kuro and Samsung LN52A750.
